2019 RTSports Outlook

Vannett got plenty of playing time last year for the Seahawks, mainly because of his ability to block. He didn't make a ton of plays in the passing game. He had fewer than 30 yards all but a game. He finished with 29 receptions for 269 yards and three scores on 43 targets. Vannett has 41 receptions his last two seasons with the Seahawks. He should continue to get plenty of playing time for the Seahawks because of his blocking ability. He can be an asset for the running game. He can make plays in the passing game, though, improving in that area in recent seasons.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Vannett probably won't get a lot of targets in the passing game, helping more as a blocker than receiver. He isn't worth a draft pick for fantasy teams unless he is forced into a bigger role in the passing game. Expect around 25 receptions for 250 yards with a score or two.

RotoBaller's Outlook

2018 was a career year for Seattle Seahawks tight end Nick Vannett. He hauled in 29 receptions for 269 yards and three touchdowns, all career highs and numbers that led all Seahawks tight ends. However, much of that was due to injuries, as veteran Ed Dickson missed the first eight games with a back injury and rookie Will Dissly suffered a season-ending knee injury minutes into Seattles fourth game of the season. Dissly and Dickson are both healthy now, and Seattle also added Jacob Hollister into the mix - and thats after using lineman George Fant as a tight end multiple times last season. Its a crowded tight end picture in Seattle at the moment, and this is not a team that is known to utilize their tight ends exceptionally well, as many former Jimmy Graham owners can attest to. Dissly likely has the upper hand on the starting tight end role in Seattle, as long as he is healthy. Because of that, he is the late round flyer you want to target in Seattle - which means Vannett should remain on your waiver wire. Injuries are certainly a possibility to push him into a bigger role once again in 2019, but until that happens I wouldnt use a roster spot on him.

Seattle Seahawks TE Will Dissly (knee) is the only lock to make the 53-man roster among its tight ends, in the opinion of the Seattle Times' Bob Condotta, who gives the edge to TEs Nick Vannett and Jacob Hollister for the other two spots.
