2019 RTSports Outlook

Fitzpatrick didn't start all last season but posted some huge games while starting. He had four 400-yard passing games and three games with four touchdown passes. Hs numbers were off the charts many weeks. He did have some turnover issues, though, having 12 interceptions in eight games. His turnovers eventually were the reason he was sent to the bench for Jameis Winston. Fitzpatrick proved he can still help as a starter in this league and be a top backup for NFL teams. He gets a chance to compete for the starting job in Miami this year and might be the odds on favorite to win the job, giving Josh Rosen a veteran to learn from. Fitzpatrick doesn't have a great arm, but runs well for a quarterback and has a knack for making plays. He has at least 150 or more rushing yards eight of 11 seasons. Fitzpatrick doesn't throw a great deep ball and will force some throws, but does a good job of hitting his receivers in stride. He still makes too many mistakes for a guy that has been in the league this long.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: If last season was any indication, Fitzpatrick can still help fantasy teams if starting. He can have the monster game because he likes to take chances and will make plays on the run. But expect some inconsistent production along the way.

After winning his second-straight game, head coach Brian Flores declared that Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick would remain the starter for "the foreseeable future". Fitzpatrick didn't exactly shine in the Dolphins 16-12 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10, throwing for 169 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception, salvaging 12 fantasy points on the day with an 11-yard touchdown run late in the second half. Save for the one touchdown drive, Miami's offense was mostly inept in victory, totaling just 229 yards on the day. Fitzpatrick needs to stay on the waiver wire in Week 11, as the Dolphins will face a Buffalo Bills team that's allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in 2019.

Nov 9 6:00pm ET

Having now thrown six touchdowns in his last three games, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick looks to build off of Miami's first victory of the season, going on the road to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10. Fitzpatrick scored 23 fantasy points in Miami's Week 9 victory over the New York Jets, throwing for three touchdowns and 288 yards passing. Since giving him back the starting job from Josh Rosen, Miami has shown that they are committed to letting Fitzpatrick air it out whether they are behind or ahead on the scoreboard. This approach leads to a lot of turnovers but also to a lot of throws down the field, making Fitzpatrick a viable QB2 in Week 10 against a middling Colts pass defense that's much more proficient at stopping the run than they are the passing game.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 8, and is not on the injury report for Week 10.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick has been playing better over the last few weeks and has thrown for at least 280 yards in two of the last three games. He can be a starting option in two-quarterback leagues but can still be avoided in standard leagues.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick has thrown for five touchdowns over the last two games and at least 280 yards in two of the last three games. He can be a starting option in two-quarterback leagues but could be avoided in most standard leagues this week against the Indianapolis Colts.

Nov 4 12:30pm ET

Doing his part for daylight savings, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick turned back the clock on Sunday, throwing for three touchdowns in a 26-18 victory over the New York Jets. The win was Miamis first of the season, with Fitzpatrick completing 24-of-36 passes for 283 yards on his way to scoring 23 points for the day, a mark that was fifth-highest among quarterbacks in Week 9. After scoring 18 points in Week 7, the journeyman signal-caller has now been serviceable in two of his last three games and heads into a Week 10 matchup against an Indianapolis Colts team that is allowing an average of 16 points-per-game to opposing quarterbacks.

From RotoBaller

Nov 3 6:43pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick went 24-for-36 for 288 yards and three touchdowns against the New York Jets in Week 9.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick has thrown seven touchdowns over his last four games and has shown good chemistry with his receivers over the last two weeks. He will be facing the Indianapolis Colts and could be a starting option in two-quarterback leagues.

From TheHuddle

Nov 2 7:40pm ET

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will look for his first win of 2019 against the Jets on Sunday. The 36-year-old is having one of the worst seasons of his lengthy career, throwing seven interceptions throughout six games, with only five touchdowns to go along with a shoddy 59.7 completion percentage. Fitzpatrick does have a decent chance to get it together in Week 9, however, against a Jets Defense that hasn't impressed anyone this year. If you are looking for a deep-league, two-quarterback streamer in Week 9, he is your guy, but only if you are desperate.

From RotoBaller

Oct 30 12:43pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain the starting quarterback, according to head coach Brian Flores. Fitzpatrick gives the team 'the best chance to win,' Flores said.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick has no value in fantasy and isn't worth starting against the New York Jets.

From TheHuddle

Oct 29 12:30pm ET

After leading 14-0 early in a Monday night matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick righted the ship for the remaining three quarters, throwing two interceptions and fumbling twice. The veteran signal caller's sub-par play propelled the Dolphins to their seventh-straight loss and kept them in the catbird seat for the first pick in the 2020 draft. After a punt on their opening possession, Fitzpatrick capped off consecutive scoring drives by connecting with wide receivers Allen Hurns and Albert Wilson for touchdowns, quickly giving the Dolphins a two-score lead. Fitzpatrick then quickly erased any hope of a Dolphin win by throwing interceptions on two of Miami's next three drives and fumbling twice in the fourth quarter, with Miami eventually losing 27-14. Finishing with 190 yards passing to go along with his two touchdowns and three turnovers, Fitzpatrick is currently not a viable option in any fantasy league and likely won't become one on a Miami team that shows no signs of improving in any facet of the game.

Oct 28 11:43pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 21-of-34 passes for 190 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, Oct. 28. He also ran five times for 17 yards.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins showed guts, but they came up short again for the seventh time in seven games. He and the Dolphins will look to bounce back next week against the one-week New York Jets at Hard Rock Stadium. Fitz-Magic remains more of a QB2 in most fantasy formats.

From TheHuddle

Oct 25 1:10pm ET

Back starting under center in Week 7, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick brought his winless team to within three points late in the fourth quarter against the Buffalo Bills, but ultimately lost to his former team 31-21. Fitzpatrick had his best fantasy performance of the season, throwing for 282 yards and a touchdown while adding another score on an 11-yard run. Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins will face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night, who are allowing the 10th-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in 2019. After throwing a season-high 35 times in last weeks loss, Miami seems willing to let Fitzpatricks arm do the heavy lifting of their anemic offense. Given his long track record, that strategy can sometimes end with a fantasy-worthy line but will almost always end with multiple interceptions. Starting the Harvard-educated journeyman this week is a move only for those in two-quarterback leagues and those who are truly desperate.

Oct 20 11:00pm ET

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had his best game of the season on Sunday, completing 23-of-35 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Fitzpatrick's second touchdown of the day was an 11-yard run that brought the Dolphins to within a field goal with less than two minutes remaining, but Fitzpatrick wouldnt get a chance to see if he had any magic left, as the ensuing onside kick attempt was run back for a Buffalo touchdown. While Fitzpatricks 18 points represent a high on the season and also came against one of the leagues best pass defenses, dont be fooled into thinking this was a good day for the 36-year-old veteran starting in place of a benched Josh Rosen. Fitzpatrick led the Dolphins on a ten-minute drive to open the second half, driving 63 yards but then made a critical mistake by throwing a back-breaking interception at the goal line. The Bills then proceeded to march 98 yards down the field for a touchdown and a lead they wouldnt relinquish again. Even facing a struggling Pittsburgh Steelers team on Monday Night Football in Week 8, Fitzpatrick wont be a recommended play in fantasy and should be left on the waiver wire.

Oct 20 5:03pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick went 23-for-35 for 282 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7. He also rushed for 13 yards and one touchdown on six carries during the game.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick regained the starting job this week and had a decent outing. He should have some success against the Pittsburgh Steelers next week but probably should only be an option in two-quarterback leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 18 12:20pm ET

After being benched following a Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has been named the starter for a Week 7 matchup in Buffalo. Fitzpatrick replaced starter Josh Rosen in the fourth quarter of Miami's loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 6, leading the Dolphins on two touchdown drives but ultimately falling short of victory. Facing his most recent former team, Fitzpatrick may find it tough sledding in Buffalo, as the Bills are allowing less than 10 points per game to opposing quarterbacks, a mark that is fourth-best in the league. Even having regained his starting position, Fitzpatrick doesn't belong anywhere but on the waiver wire until further notice.

From RotoBaller

Oct 16 1:03pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will start in Week 7 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Spin: The Bills are a bad matchup for Fitzpatrick, and he's really only worth considering in two-quarterback leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 16 12:00pm ET

Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores announced on Wednesday that quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will start over Josh Rosen in Week 7 against the Bills. Rosen failed against the Redskins in Week 6 and was benched in favor of the veteran late in the game. Fitzpatrick has had his ups and downs this year. He likely gives Miami a better chance to win in the short term, but he'll be an unappealing QB2 in a terrifying matchup against Buffalo's strong defense on the road this Sunday.

From RotoBaller

Oct 14 2:00am ET

Called upon in the fourth quarter to take over an offense that had thus far been stagnant, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick almost pulled out Miami's first win of the season in Week 6 before ultimately losing to the Washington Redskins 17-16. Fitzpatrick entered the game and led the Dolphins on two touchdown drives, including an 11-yard touchdown pass to Devante Parker with six seconds left in the game that put the Dolphins down just 17-16. Electing to go for two, Fitzpatrick found an open Kenyan Drake in the flat but Drake was unable to haul the pass in, ensuring that Miami keeps on rolling towards 0-16 and the number-one pick in the draft. Even with the near-heroics, head coach Randy Flores says Josh Rosen will remain the starter going forward, making Fitzpatrick unplayable in fantasy until further notice.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 4:53pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 12-of-18 passes for 132 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions off the bench in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Spin: It's mixed signals from head coach Brian Flores, who said Josh Rosen was the starter for the remainder of the season, then he pulls him at the first sign of trouble. Avoid the situation completely for fantasy purposes.
