Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (leg) is reportedly doing well in his recovery from the fractured fibula and is expected to be 'fully ready' by training camp, according to a source.

May 6 6:53pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (leg) hopefully will be ready for training camp, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Apr 24 12:50pm ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy (leg) is missing offseason workouts with the team while recovering from another procedure on his leg, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. McCoy broke his fibula last season in December, and head coach Jay Gruden explained that the team rushed McCoy back for a potential late-season playoff push. The quarterback has now had three procedures on his leg since last December, although he could return as soon as next week. He'll compete for the starting job with Case Keenum in training camp, but the 'Skins could add another QB early in the draft this week. Even if McCoy somehow wins the starting job this year, he won't be an attractive QB2 in fantasy leagues.

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (leg) underwent a third procedure on his leg, but he could be ready for workouts next week. 'What happened was when he had the injury we were aggressive trying to get him back on the field so fast we didn't give it time enough to heal the right way so they went back in and did a small procedure to make sure that thing is on track to be full strength by the season,' head coach Jay Gruden said at the NFL League Meetings in Arizona last month. McCoy had a third, minor, surgery afterwards.

Mar 24 10:43pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (leg) had surgery on his right leg, but he is expected to be ready when offseason programs begin.

Mar 1 2:03pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (leg) is the team's projected starter with fellow QB Alex Smith (leg) likely to miss the 2019 season, and head coach Jay Gruden says he has confidence in McCoy while adding that the team will likely look to add another quarterback in the draft or free agency. 'Always looking for competition for sure,' Gruden said Thursday, Feb. 28. 'You know Colt had a great opportunity last year, and unfortunately he got hurt, but everybody knows the organization feels very good about Colt if he's the starter, but competition is very good, especially at the quarterback position.'

Feb 14 9:13pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (leg) was seen without any braces or supports for his injured leg.

Feb 12 3:23pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Alex Smith (leg) is not expected to play this season, in the opinion of RB Chris Thompson. 'We know and understand that it's probably not going to happen that we have him this year,' Thompson admitted. The Redskins have discussed a new deal with QB Josh Johnson, but QB Colt McCoy is slated to start the year if Smith can't go. Smith is in the midst of a an extensive recovery from a severe compound leg fracture late in the season.

Fantasy Spin: Honestly, Smith was the best fantasy option among Washington quarterbacks, although Johnson is capable of being fantasy relevant. Still, if you draft a Redskins quarterback this year, draft him as your backup.

Dec 27 11:53am ET

Free-agent DL Marcus Smith (Bills) was signed to an undisclosed deal by the Washington Redskins Thursday, Dec. 27. S Alex Carter was promoted from the practice squad. QB Colt McCoy (leg) and TE Jordan Reed were placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

Dec 26 7:43pm ET

Washington Redskins LB Ryan Anderson (hamstring), OT Ty Nsekhe (knee), QB Colt McCoy (fibula), DE Matt Ioannidis (hamstring) and WR Maurice Harris (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 26. OGs Zac Kerin (knee), Tony Bergstrom (ankle, knee) and OT Trent Williams (thumb, wrist) were limited.

Dec 24 2:00pm ET

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden made it clear on Monday that quarterback Josh Johnson will finish the season as the starter in Week 17 against the Eagles. Colt McCoy broke his leg in early December and was hoping to return before the end of the season, but he is not ready. Johnson has thrown for under 200 yards in both of his starts and has two touchdowns and two interceptions. With a very limited supporting cast around him, Johnson will remain a low-end QB2, even in a matchup against a very shaky Eagles secondary.

Dec 24 10:23am ET

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (leg) won't play in Week 17, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Spin: Josh Johnson figures to an option in two-QB leagues for the finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dec 22 3:13pm ET

The Washington Redskins have declared WR Maurice Harris, OG Shawn Lauvao, TE Jordan Reed, C Tony Bergstrom, OT Ty Nsekhe, QB Colt McCoy and RB Samaje Perine inactive for Week 16.

Dec 20 4:03pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (fibula) and FS Montae Nicholson (non-injury related) have been ruled out for Week 16. OT Ty Nsekhe (knee) and WR Maurice Harris (concussion) did not practice and are questionable. LB Ryan Anderson (hamstring), C Tony Bergstrom (knee, ankle), DT Matt Ioannidis (shin) and DT Tim Settle (pectoral) were limited and are questionable. LB Shaun Dion Hamilton (shoulder), OT Morgan Moses (ankle), OT Trent Williams (thumb, wrist) and C Chase Roullier (knee) participated fully.

Dec 20 11:30am ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy (leg) is still hoping to play in the Week 17 season finale against the Eagles despite suffering a broken fibula 27 days ago, according to a source. With Washington's season basically over, it makes no sense for the Redskins to throw McCoy out there too soon. We'd be pretty surprised if he actually played, and he'd be a last-ditch, low-end QB2 against the Eagles even if he did play. In the meantime, Josh Johnson is running a Washington offense that is running on fumes.
