2019 RTSports Outlook

Brady played fine last year but didn't produce his usual fantasy numbers, finishing 13th overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. He wasn't quite as consistent as past seasons, having one or no scores seven games. He still had his usual huge games but was a little more inconsistent for his fantasy owners. This could be a trend for Brady, who turns 42 years old before the start of the season. Brady has 10 4,000-yard seasons for his career and thrown fewer than 10 interceptions four of five seasons. Brady does a great job of distributing the ball to all his options and rarely turns the ball over. He has a strong arm and is extremely accurate. Brady knows the offense well and has made the most of his abilities throughout his career.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Brady isn't quite the elite option of past years. He doesn't have the top options in the passing game as past year and his numbers suffered some last year because of this. His age also is a concern as well as his interception total (11) rising last year. Consider him a low-end No. 1, finishing with similar numbers to last season. Brady can get around 4,300 yards and 30 touchdowns with minimal interceptions.

RotoBaller's Outlook

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady continues defy the concepts of age and time. Brady's 2018 season included: his 10th 4,000-yard season, his 14th season of 25-plus touchdowns and, of course, his sixth Super Bowl. Brady has proven time and time again that he is, perhaps, the greatest quarterback of all time. But for fantasy owners, Brady will be one of the biggest buyer beware cases of 2019. The first statistic to keep in mind is that Brady finished 14th among quarterbacks in fantasy points last season. The 41-year-old threw for one or fewer touchdowns in eight games in 2018, including a five-game stretch when he only threw for four touchdowns. He also feasted on the lesser competition of his division, tossing 12 touchdowns to only two interceptions in four games against the Jets and Dolphins. It would be unwise to completely write Brady off for 2019 but fantasy owners need to draft him appropriately. Brady should certainly be drafted (albeit the later rounds) and will still put up some elite performances, especially against his own division. But ideally Brady is merely a matchup-based play at this point in his career and fantasy teams would be wise to roster two quarterbacks if Brady is drafted in 2019.

Fantasy Spin: Brady has not been as productive this season as he has been in the past but should have success against the Cincinnati Bengals. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (knee, shoulder), LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (knee), DL Byron Cowart (concussion), OL Ted Karras (knee), CB Jason McCourty (groin), WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) and DL Danny Shelton (ankle) were limited in practice Friday, Dec. 13, and are listed as questionable for Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals. QB Tom Brady (elbow), WR N'Keal Harry (hip) and OL Isaiah Wynn (eye) practiced in full Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

Dec 12 6:03pm ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 12.

Fantasy Spin: Brady has been held to under 200 yards in two of the last three games but does have five touchdowns during that span. He will have a favorable matchup this week and can be a starting option in fantasy leagues.

New England Patriots OT Isaiah Wynn (eye) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 12. WR Julian Edelman (knee, shoulder), LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (knee), DL Byron Cowart (concussion), OL Ted Karras (knee), CB Jason McCourty (groin), WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) and DL Danny Shelton (shoulder) were limited. QB Tom Brady (elbow) and WR N'Keal Harry (hip) practiced in full.

From TheHuddle

Dec 11 4:40pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will have an excellent chance to get his offense back on track this week against an awful Bengals team in Week 15. Brady and the Patriots offense has severely struggled the past few weeks and Brady has passed for only nine touchdowns over his last eight games. New England is trying to incorporate young receivers into the offense on the fly and Brady will go up against a Bengals Defense that is allowing the ninth most fantasy points to passers this season. The Bengals haven't allowed a substantial amount of touchdowns but certainly are lenient in passing yards allowed. This is a perfect opportunity to have a positive offensive day against an inferior opponent and Brady has a shot at top-10 numbers among QB's for Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Dec 11 4:03pm ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow) was listed as a full participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Fantasy Spin: Brady shouldn't be causing any concern ahead of his Week 15 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. He failed to top 200 yards passing in two of his last three games, but he shouldn't have much trouble putting together a low-end QB1 performance this week.

From TheHuddle

Dec 9 8:43am ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow) has really seen his practice time diminish due to maintenance of his elbow injury.

Fantasy Spin: The numbers show it, too, as Brady is the 23rd ranked quarterback in fantasy over the last five weeks. He'll be a low-end QB1 option that shouldn't have too many worries against the Cincinnati Bengals.

From TheHuddle

Dec 9 1:23am ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was 19 of 36 for 169 yards with a touchdown and an interception during the team's Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Brady also ran twice for 20 yards.

Fantasy Spin: Outside of a bunch of garbage-time production in Week 13, Brady has really struggled over the last month, completing just 51.5 percent of his passes and finishing with fewer than 225 yards passing three times. Granted, the officials blew a call that would've given Brady a second TD strike, but he and the Patriots offense as a whole just hasn't looked sharp -- Brady's lone scoring play against KC came off of a flea flicker. He has a potential "get well" game in Week 15 against the Bengals, but you're absolutely taking a risk putting the veteran in your starting lineup.

From TheHuddle

Dec 8 9:30pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady completed only 19 of 36 passes for 169 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Patriots 23-17 loss to the Chiefs. New England had a 21-game winning streak at home snapped as the offense continued its descent into mediocrity. All of the blame should not go to Brady but the future Hall of Famer's completion percentage continues to plummet. Four rushing touchdowns have helped his fantasy production over the last month but Brady has passed for only nine touchdowns over his last eight games played. The Patriots are heading towards the playoffs but will need massive improvement if they hope to defend their title. Brady's fantasy value is in free-fall right now.

Dec 6 7:43pm ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow, toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 6, and has been removed from the Week 14 injury report.

Fantasy Spin: Brady ranks fifth in the NFL with 3,268 yards but has only 18 touchdowns in 12 games. He should have some success against the Kansas City Chiefs and can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 6 5:43pm ET

New England Patriots DL Byron Cowart (head) and OL Ted Karras (knee) were unable to practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 14 against the Kansas City Chiefs. LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (knee), OL Marcus Cannon (illness), S Patrick Chung (heel), WR Julian Edelman (shoulder), CB Jason McCourty (groin) and WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) were limited in practice all week and are listed as questionable. QB Tom Brady (toe, elbow) and QB Cody Kessler (illness) were not given a practice designation Friday, Dec. 6, and have been removed from the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Dec 6 4:20pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will take on a Chiefs Defense that is allowing the 12th most fantasy points to opposing passers this season. The Patriots offense has been in a slump the past few weeks and the wide receivers group has battled injuries. But the Chiefs have allowed multiple touchdowns to three of the last five quarterbacks they have faced and Brady will have to throw the rock to keep up with Patrick Mahomes and an explosive Chiefs offense. Multiple touchdowns and 300-plus yards passing is certainly in play for Brady in Week 14.

From RotoBaller

Dec 5 6:13pm ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow, toe) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 5.

Fantasy Spin: Brady should be on track to play this week, but fantasy players should check on his status later in the week. He played well last week and could be part of a high-scoring game this week against the Kansas City Chiefs. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 4 7:33pm ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow, toe) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Spin: Brady is coming off one of his better games of the season last week but only has five touchdowns in the last four games. He will be facing an improving Kansas City Chiefs defense this week but could still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 2 2:33am ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 24 of his 47 passes for 326 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in a Week 13 loss to the Houston Texans. Brady also had a 13-yard run.

Fantasy Spin: When the outcome was in doubt, Brady struggled mightily, only moving the ball effectively once the Texans played soft coverage in garbage time. Incredibly, the Pats nearly recovered an onside kick to give themselves a chance, but ultimately they couldn't recover it, and Brady's efforts amounted to little more than stat padding. The numbers simply haven't been there for Brady since early in the season, and you should think long and hard about your other options before turning to Brady in Week 14.

From TheHuddle

Dec 2 12:40am ET

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady completed 24 of 47 passes for 326 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the Patriots 28-22 loss to the Texans. The score does not reflect how badly the Patriots were dominated throughout this game and Brady was under duress early and often. Brady tossed a rare, terribly thrown interception in the first half to set up an easy Texans score. He did rally, however, with three second-half touchdown passes despite the final two coming in garbage time. The sudden fragile state of the Patriots offense aside, Brady posted close to his best fantasy line of the season. The Patriots now must face the Chiefs in Week 14 with an offense that is losing confidence right now.

From RotoBaller

Nov 29 6:23pm ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 13.

Fantasy Spin: Brady has thrown only two touchdowns in the last three games and has been held to under 260 yards in four of the last five games. He could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues but could also be benched if fantasy players have better options.

From TheHuddle

Nov 29 5:23pm ET

New England Patriots TE Ryan Izzo (illness) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Houston Texans. LB Kyle Van Noy (illness) did not practice Friday, Nov. 29, and is listed as questionable. S Patrick Chung (illness, heel, chest), LB Jamie Collins (illness), OL Jermaine Eluemunor (illness), CB Stephon Gilmore (illness), LB Dont'a Hightower (illness), CB Joejuan Williams (illness), OT Isaiah Wynn (illness), LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (knee), OT Marcus Cannon (illness), WR Phillip Dorsett (concussion), S Nate Ebner (ankle, back), WR Julian Edelman (shoulder), CB Jason McCourty (groin), WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle), WR Matthew Slater (hamstring) and OL Byron Cowart (head) were limited in practice Friday and are also listed as questionable. QB Tom Brady (elbow) returned to a full practice Friday and has been removed from the injury report. DE John Simon (elbow) was not given a practice designation for a second straight day but also no longer appears on the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Nov 29 2:43pm ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow) said Friday, Nov. 29, that his elbow injury is improving. 'I actually feel really good -- I mean that,' Brady said.

Fantasy Spin: While Brady hasn't missed any time or has appeared to be hampered in games, his passing numbers of late have been particularly impressive, topping 300 yards once and throwing for multiple TD passes once in his last six outings. He's a QB2 option against the Texans in Week 13.

From TheHuddle

Nov 28 5:53pm ET

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (elbow) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 28.

Fantasy Spin: It's a surprising downgrade for Brady, who was listed as a full participant Wednesday. He has a little extra time to get ready this week as the Pats will play the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football. There still shouldn't be much concern.
