Houston Texans wide receiver Deandre Carter had three catches for 40 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Detroit Lions. He was the team leader in receiving yards and tied for the lead in receptions. Carter is currently leading the battle to be Keke Coutee's backup in the slot, and while his ceiling isn't very high, he could have some DFS appeal in the event that Coutee (ankle) misses any regular season action.
Houston Texans wide receiver Deandre Carter appears to be in the lead for the backup slot receiver spot in Houston behind Keke Coutee, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury. Carter's faced a heavy challenge from Steven Mitchell for the role, but so far looks to be holding Mitchell off. If Coutee misses regular season time, Carter could have some appeal in deeper leagues, though he's much more enticing as a low-cost DFS option than he is as rosterable re-draft player.
Houston Texans WR DeAndre Carter (hamstring) was activated from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, Aug. 10.
Houston Texans wide receiver Deandre Carter has been taken off the PUP list and is practicing with the team. Carter's actual injury issue is still unclear, but his return to practice is good news for Houston. Carter should serve as the team's primary returner this year, and if Keke Coutee (ankle) misses regular season action, Carter will fill in as the slot receiver. He's not going to be much of a fantasy option outside of DFS contests as a Coutee replacement, though.
Houston Texans wide receiver Deandre Carter was placed on the active/PUP list for undisclosed reasons. Carter enters camp looking to lock down a role as Houston's fourth receiver, but he won't be able to practice until the team removes him from the list, which could put him behind in preparation for the upcoming season. Carter had 20 catches for 195 yards for Houston last year after joining the team in the middle of the year. He also spent time returning punts and kicks. Carter can be activated from the list at any time. With wide receiver Will Fuller's injury history, the fourth receiver job in Houston has the potential to produce fantasy points at some point during the season, though Carter shouldn't be drafted in any formats yet, and it's unclear how firm a hold he has on the job.
Houston Texans exclusive rights free-agent WR DeAndre Carter signed a new contract with the Texans Monday, March 11. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
