The San Francisco 49ers signed free-agent running back Wayne Gallman to an undisclosed one-year deal on Wednesday. Gallman was originally drafted by the New York Giants in the fourth round of the 2017 draft. He has played in 53 career games (14 starts) and has 338 carries for 1,444 yards and nine touchdowns while also adding 80 catches for 498 yards and two touchdowns in his four-year career. Gallman appeared in 15 games (10 starts) for the Giants last year and led the team in rushing attempts (147), rushing yards (682) and rushing touchdowns (six), which were all single-season career-highs. The 26-year-old will join a crowded backfield in San Francisco that features Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert, so Gallman probably won't have much fantasy appeal unless an injury sidelines either Wilson or Mostert.

Free agent running back Wayne Gallman visited the San Francisco 49ers on Monday. Last year, Gallman had 147 carries for the Giants, with 682 rushing yards and six touchdowns. But Gallman's role only existed because of a Saquon Barkley injury, and the free-agent market has been slow for veteran backs like Gallman. San Francisco seems like an odd landing spot for Gallman as they already have a solid top-two back rotation with Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr., but adding another veteran to the mix isn't out of the question. Wherever Gallman lands, he'll likely open the year as someone who is completely off the fantasy radar.

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones completed 17-of-25 passes for 229 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys. RB Wayne Gallman rushed 11 times for 65 yards, while WR Sterling Shepard had eight receptions for a game-high 112 yards with a touchdown, and he ran twice for 24 yards and a score. WR Dante Pettis added two receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown, while WR Darius Slayton closed the regular season with two catches and 22 yards on four targets. TE Evan Engram was also targeted four times, ending up with two catches and 17 yards. LB Blake Martinez ended up with 11 total stops, a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit, and DE Leonard Williams had three sacks.

Jan 3 5:50pm ET

New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman handled 11 carries for 65 yards in a win over the Cowboys on Sunday. Gallman was not targeted in the passing game. The story of this game for Gallman will be a fumble late in the game that almost cost New York, but Gallman safely fell on the ball. On the season, Gallman rushed 136 times for 617 yards (4.5 yards-per-carry) with six touchdowns. All of his scores came after taking over as the lead-back thanks to injuries to Saquon Barkley (knee) and Devonta Freeman (ankle). Gallman is a nice fill-in back for the Giants, but his fantasy stock is tied to getting a large number of carries. Something that won't happen in New York when Barkley is healthy.

Jan 1 1:10pm ET

New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman has been disappointing down the stretch but will look to finish the season strong versus Dallas. Gallman, who had double-digit carries for seven-strait weeks before Week 15, has seen his carries drop as the New York offense has struggled with QB Daniel Jones banged up. As a result, Gallman has failed to reach 30 yards in back to back games. There's hope for fantasy managers, however, as the Cowboys have allowed the second-most rushing yards to running backs this season. Gallman should see enough carries to be in the RB2 mix, but his upside is limited by the Giants' offense.

Dec 27 7:53pm ET

New York Giants RB Wayne Gallman rushed six times for 27 yards in Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens and he added two receptions for 26 yards on two targets.

Fantasy Spin: Gallman did a good job in place of the injured Saquon Barkley in the second half, but his fantasy status heading into the 2021 season is uncertain once Barkley is healthy again. The Giants host the Cowboys in Week 17.

From TheHuddle

Dec 27 5:10pm ET

New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman handled six carries for 27 yards and caught both of his targets for 26 yards in a loss to the Ravens. New York fell behind early in this one and Gallman was phased-out of the game-script with the Giants attempting 41 passes. The silver-lining for Gallman is he still out-touched Alfred Morris eight to four, but it's hard to trust anyone in the Giants' offense for fantasy at this point. Gallman has a good matchup in Week 17 against the Cowboys putting him in the RB3/flex conversation.

From RotoBaller

Dec 26 12:30pm ET

New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman has been a solid starter for fantasy, but had a disappointing game last week and will face a challenge against the Ravens in Week 16. Last week, Gallman had just nine carries for 29 yards, his fewest carries in a game since October 11. Vegas has the Giants listed as heavy underdogs which could lead to a pass-heavy game script; not good news for Gallman. He has just one game this season with more than three targets so Gallman's floor for fantasy is lower than normal. Gallman is a risky flex-option against Baltimore.

From RotoBaller

Dec 21 12:43am ET

New York Giants RB Wayne Gallman carried the ball nine times for 29 yards against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Dec. 20.

Fantasy Spin: In McCoy's first start, the Giants defeated Seattle with rushing and defense. The Browns were too stout, however, and Gallman actually finished behind Alfred Morris in rushing yardage Sunday night. They'll face the red-hot Ravens next Sunday, hopefully with a healthy Daniel Jones to take some of the pressure off of the running game. Gallman looks like a possible RB3/flex in that matchup.

From TheHuddle

Dec 20 11:20pm ET

New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman rushed nine times for 29 yards in a loss to the Browns on Sunday Night Football. Gallman's nine carries led the team, but backup Alfred Morris out-rushed Gallman by ten yards on two fewer carries. This is the first time since Devonta Freeman (ankle) was injured that Gallman failed to have double-digit carries. Freeman is practicing again so Gallman could lose work moving forward. A Week 16 matchup at Baltimore makes Gallman a risky option in championship week.

From RotoBaller

Dec 18 5:50pm ET

New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman may not be the flashiest name in fantasy football, but he's getting a ton of work and should be started in Week 15 against Cleveland. Gallman has double-digit touches in every game since the team lost Devonta Freeman (ankle) in Week 7. Freeman is eligible to be activated off of injured reserve, but it remains unlikely he plays this week. Gallman has been great in Freeman's absence averaging 81.4 yards-per-game in his last five contests with four touchdowns in that span. New York's offense has looked dreadful the past two weeks and it remains unclear if Colt McCoy or Daniel Jones (hamstring, ankle) will start for Big Blue. Regardless of the QB situation, Gallman will see enough touches to be a solid starter in fantasy against the Browns.

From RotoBaller

Dec 13 8:33pm ET

New York Giants RB Wayne Gallman rushed 12 times for 57 yards in Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals and he added three receptions for 16 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Spin: Gallman failed to score for the second straight outing, but he has posted 53 or more rushing yards in each of his past five outings. He has emerged as a legit low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option heading into Week 15 and beyond.

From TheHuddle

Dec 13 4:50pm ET

New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman led the team in scrimmage yards, but that's where the positives end on a dismal day for Big Blue's offense. Gallman handled 12 carries for 57 yards and added three catches for 16 receiving yards on an afternoon the Giants offense couldn't do anything. Worst of all, it was Dion Lewis who scored from one-yard away with Gallman on the sidelines. Gallman's 4.8 yards-per-carry is still an encouraging sign for fantasy managers as is the fact Gallman had double-digit carries for the seventh-straight game. Gallman will once again be a volume-based RB2 next week in a tough matchup with the Browns.

From RotoBaller

Dec 11 2:40pm ET

New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman has been on quite the run for fantasy managers lately and will try and keep that momentum versus the Cardinals. Gallman has seen double-digit carries in six-straight games and has scored a touchdown or rushed for 100-plus yards in all six games. New York may have Daniel Jones back under center this week, but look for the team to continue to establish the run with Gallman as his four highest rushing totals coincide with the Giants' current four-game win streak. Start Gallman as a high-end RB2 for the matchup with Arizona.

From RotoBaller

Dec 7 2:53am ET

New York Giants RB Wayne Gallman ran 16 times for 135 yards against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Dec. 6.

Fantasy Spin: About the only disappointing thing on Sunday was that Gallman's five-game TD streak came to an end with Alfred Morris scoring both of New York's touchdowns. It was by far Gallman's most impressive work as a runner, though, as it was his first game of more than 100 yards on the ground and was more than double his yards-per-carry average for the year. At this point it certainly seems like Gallman will work as the top back even if/when Devonta Freeman returns. He's a low-end RB2 or strong RB3 going forward.

From TheHuddle

Dec 6 7:50pm ET

New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman led the charge for the offense in a big road win over the Seahawks on Sunday. Gallman turned 16 carries into 135 yards (8.4 YPC) as the Giants faced a run-heavy game-script and fed their lead back. Despite the impressive yardage total, fantasy managers can only wonder what could have been as Alfred Morris scored both of Big Blue's touchdowns, including one score after Gallman set up the drive with runs of three, 13, and 23 yards. Gallman will be a must-start fantasy option next week against the Cardinals.
