Impending free-agent TE Jason Witten (Cowboys) made it clear to reporters Tuesday, Feb. 18, that he intends to play next season and hopes to do so with the Dallas Cowboys, although he is not opposed to finishing his career somewhere else. He is hoping to make a more concrete decision about his future following the NFL Scouting Combine next week.

From TheHuddle

Feb 18 10:20pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, who will be a free agent next month, wants to play another season and hopes he can remain with the Cowboys. However, Witten understands that he might have to go elsewhere if he wants to play in a 17th NFL season. The veteran tight end has met with new head coach Mike McCarthy and has talked with owners Jerry Jones and executive vice president Stephen Jones. Witten hauled in 63 catches for 529 yards and four touchdowns in 2019 in his return from a one-year absence from the game. He's headed into his age-38 season, and while he can still give something to a team, he won't be anything more than a touchdown-dependent, low-end TE2 if he plays again in 2020 for the Cowboys or another squad.

Feb 1 1:03pm ET

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten, a pending free agent, said Saturday he remains undecided on retirement and is realistic about possibly finishing his career with another team.

Fantasy Spin: The future Hall of Famer did finish 12th among fantasy tight ends (76.9 total points) last season at age 37, but his TE1 days are behind him, and it's hard to imagine him starting over with another team if the Cowboys don't bring him back.

From TheHuddle

Jan 19 2:03pm ET

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent TE Jason Witten has not ruled out playing in 2020 and could join the New York Giants because of his connection with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, according to sources.

From TheHuddle

Dec 29 8:40pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten caught four passes in Week 17, gaining 24 yards. He was targeted four times and caught all four balls thrown his way. Witten and head coach Jason Garrett may have seen their last Cowboys games, although Witten will likely be welcomed back if he decides to return for the 2020 season.

From RotoBaller

Dec 29 7:53pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott completed 23-of-33 passes for 303 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 17 against the Washington Redskins, but the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs due to Philadelphia's victory over the New York Giants. RB Ezekiel Elliott ran 18 times for 122 yards and a touchdown, while RB Tony Pollard rushed 14 times for 60 yards. WR Michael Gallup posted five grabs for 98 yards and a career-high three touchdowns, while WR Amari Cooper finished with four grabs for 92 yards. WR Randall Cobb ended up with five catches for 81 yards, and TE Jason Witten wound up with four receptions for 24 yards.

From TheHuddle

Dec 29 12:03pm ET

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten has a $375,000 contract incentive that can be earned if he has at least 55 receptions this season and the team reaches the playoffs, according to multiple sources. He has already caught 59 passes but the team needs a victory versus the Washington Redskins in Week 17 and a loss by the Philadelphia Eagles to the New York Giants in order to earn a berth in the postseason.

From TheHuddle

Dec 24 9:50pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten is a low upside option for Week 17 fantasy lineups. Witten made just two catches for 14 yards in Week 16 and could be in for a similar outing this time around. The Cowboys will likely focus on the running game and their top two wide receivers. Witten always has a chance to come down with a touchdown on short red zone plays, but there will be plenty of higher upside options for around the same price in DFS leagues.

From RotoBaller

Dec 22 8:00pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten made just two catches in Week 16, gaining 14 yards. Witten was only targeted three times in a game where Dak Prescott attempted 44 passes. It was an all-around struggle for the Dallas offense, who will have to show up next week against Washington in a must-win contest.

From RotoBaller

Dec 18 11:50am ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten is a floor option for Week 16 without much of a ceiling. Despite a highlight reel one-handed touchdown catch in Week 15, Witten ended up with just five catches for 36 yards. Without the touchdown, that would have been a floor performance. With touchdowns being so unpredictable and with the Cowboys wide receivers expected to play much more significant roles in this one, Witten is no more than a lower-end TE2.

From RotoBaller

Dec 16 4:03am ET

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten logged four receptions, 36 yards and a touchdown during the team's 44-21 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15.

Fantasy Spin: There isn't much athleticism left in Witten at this point, but he can still make the odd highlight-worthy play, and his impressive one-handed TD grab was just that. While the yardage clearly isn't there any longer, Witten still provides a little value, particularly in PPR formats.

From TheHuddle

Dec 15 7:50pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten made four catches in Week 15, leading the team. Witten's four grabs were good for 36 yards and a touchdown. The veteran's score came on an excellent one-handed catch on a 19-yard play. Witten and the rest of the Dallas receivers weren't really needed in a game where the Cowboys were running all over the Rams Defense.

From RotoBaller

Dec 11 1:00pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten is a floor-play only for a Week 15 contest against the Los Angeles Rams. Witten has seen plenty of targets lately, with seven in Week 14 and right in Week 13, but he's only come up with 11 catches for 79 yards total in both games. He's one of the least likely players in fantasy football to put up a goose egg in your lineup, but he's also very unlikely to put up a game-changing score, even in PPR. He's a tight end to play when you only need to reach a floor in your matchup, otherwise, even in a position as shallow as tight end, there are likely higher upside options on the waiver wire.

From RotoBaller

Dec 6 1:03am ET

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten had five receptions for 37 yards on Thursday, Dec. 5, against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Spin: After starting off fairly well, Witten has now averaged fewer than 10 yards per catch in seven straight games, scoring just once during that time. Witten might have a little fringe appeal in PPR leagues, but that's his ceiling.

From TheHuddle

Dec 6 12:20am ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten caught five passes in Week 14, gaining 37 yards. It was a classic late-career Jason Witten game, where he caught most of the balls thrown his way right before falling to the ground. Witten saw seven targets, tied with fellow tight end Blake Jarwin for third on the team. Jarwin was able to come up with one more catch and gain 13 more yards, however. Witten has shown a consistent non-zero floor, which is at least something in the thoroughly empty fantasy position that is 2019 tight end, but he's been unable to establish any sort of ceiling in the meantime.

From RotoBaller

Dec 3 1:00pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten could be a sneaky-good tight end choice for Week 14. The Cowboys hit the road to face off against the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football, and while the Bears Defense has been excellent this season, they have been somewhat exploited by opposing tight ends. Witten caught six passes for 42 yards and a touchdown on Thanksgiving against the Buffalo Bills and could put up a similar line this week in Chicago. He has a low but non-zero floor like always, but actually could have a decent ceiling this week as well.

From RotoBaller

Nov 28 8:30pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten caught six passes on Thanksgiving, gaining 42 yards and scoring a touchdown. He was third on the team in targets, with eight. Witten touchdown came on the first possession for the Cowboys, as he came down with an eight-yard pass from Dak Prescott. Witten was much more involved in this one than he'd been recently, but he could have a hard time matching his line from Thanksgiving in Week 14. The Cowboys will take on the Chicago Bears and their tough defense on Thursday Night Football.

From RotoBaller

Nov 28 8:13pm ET

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten caught six of his eight targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Spin: It was Witten's first touchdown since he started the season with scores in back-to-back weeks. He's still far from a reliable threat who needs to reach the end zone in order to return any meaningful fantasy value.

From TheHuddle

Nov 26 2:10pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten does not make for a good fantasy option in Week 13. The Cowboys will host the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Day, and their defense has been excellent at limiting opposing tight ends. Witten is a desperation-only play in this matchup, and even at a position as shallow as tight end, most leagues will at least have higher-upside dart throws on the waiver wire for this week.

From RotoBaller

Nov 24 8:30pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten had just one catch for five yards in Week 12 against the New England Patriots. Witten has 41 catches for 371 yards and two touchdowns on the season, which is solid production for a backup in point-per-reception leagues. He has an abysmal matchup against the Buffalo Bills Thursday night, and he should stay away from lineups.
