Player Notes

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins pulled in three receptions for 39 yards on Sunday against the Chiefs. With DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller getting the majority of looks from quarterback Deshaun Watson throughout the season, Akins continues to be virtually an afterthought as he received fewer targets than fellow tight end Darren Fells, who finished with seven on the day. Akins still has value in deeper formats, but his success is dependent on whether he can find the end zone, while also hinging on the health of Fells moving ahead.

Oct 3 11:40pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins had two touchdown receptions in Week 3. He then had three catches for 21 yards against the Panthers in Week 4 and now faces a Falcons team that's allowing the ninth-fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season. The Falcons haven't given up a single touchdown to a tight end. Akins had one really good game, but it's clear that isn't the norm for him. Keep him out of your lineups.

Sep 29 6:03pm ET

Houston Texans TE Jordan Akins posted just three grabs for 21 yards on four targets in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Spin: Akins burst onto the fantasy scene with five catches, 73 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3, but he was nearly invisible in this one. Treat him as more of a TE2 in most fantasy formats heading into Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Sep 29 5:30pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins had a pair of touchdowns in Week 3, but his Week 4 performance against the Carolina Panthers looked a lot more like we're used to seeing from the second-year tight end. Akins was targeted four times, catching three passes for 21 yards. He's a low-tier TE2 at best right now, and while the upside is there, his floor is incredibly low.

Sep 28 7:20pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins caught the first two touchdowns of his NFL career last Sunday against the Chargers, but in Week 4 he faces a Panthers team that's allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Akins is going to be more involved in Houston's game plan moving forward, but this matchup is just too rough for Akins for you to start him outside of 14-team leagues, and even then you're taking on a lot of bust potential.

Houston Texans TE Jordan Akins caught three of his five targets for 73 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-20 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3.

From TheHuddle

Sep 22 8:10pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins had three catches for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He was targeted five times. One of Akins' scores came on a long play after things had broken down offensively for Houston, so we don't want to read too much into this performance, but he's a talented tight end who should continue to see his offensive role expand. Consider him a streaming option going forward.

Aug 20 7:20pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins was picked by Aaron Reiss of The Athletic as the most improved player at Texans' training camp this year. Akins was constantly making big plays in practice and showing off his versatility. With Jordan Thomas missing most of camp, Akins may actually be in the lead at this point to open the season as Houston's top tight end. That might not translate to much fantasy value on a team that's reportedly interested in keeping four tight ends, but Akins is worth a spot in dynasty leagues in case he emerges as the number-one guy at the position.

Houston Texans TEs Jerell Adams, Jordan Akins and Darren Fells have each practiced and played more with TEs Jordan M. Thomas (hamstring) and Kahale Warring (hamstring) sidelined. Adams even scored a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 8. 'All had strong camps, no doubt,' head coach Bill O'Brien said.

From TheHuddle

Jul 20 9:43pm ET

Houston Texans TE Jordan Akins said he is prepping to play a variety of positions this season. 'I would say slot receiver,' Akins said. 'Special teams as well, up-back, punt return as well as fullback.'

From TheHuddle

Jul 18 9:00pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins expects to be used in various spots on the field in 2019. While the battle for playing time at the tight end position will be tough between Akins, Jordan Thomas, and rookie Kahale Warring, Akins being able to be used in the backfield and in the slot can help him carve out a role. Still, with wide receiver Keke Coutee expected to see most of the slot minutes, Akins' versatility isn't enough to make him a trustworthy fantasy player in 2019 unless injuries hit in Houston.
