2019 RTSports Outlook

Hurns had a disappointing first season with the Cowboys, posting the worst numbers of his career. He had 20 receptions for 295 yards and two touchdowns. And he played all 16 games. Hurns has three straight seasons with fewer than 500 yards. He is trending the wrong way after his only 1,000-yard season in 2015. Hurns is likely to serve a reserve role this season. Hurns is a big target with good speed and big-play ability. His route running needs to continue to get better, but Hurns has made strides in that area. Injures have been a concern in recent years, miss-ing 11 games the past three seasons. Fantasy Outlook: Hurns seemed ready to rebound last year but didn't take advantage of the opportunity, which is not a good sign for his future. He likely will finish with similar numbers to last year. He can get around 25 catches for 350 yards and a few scores.

Just a couple of days after the Dallas Cowboys released him, the Miami Dolphins have signed wide receiver Allen Hurns. Hurns suffered an ankle injury in the playoffs last year that limited his offseason workout time, but he's expected to be ready to go for Week 1. In Miami, he'll compete with Davante Parker and Kenny Stills for snaps on the outside. Hurns' will most likely wind up as the number-four receiver in Miami behind those two and Albert Wilson, a role that won't lend itself to much fantasy production.

Free-agent WR Allen Hurns (Cowboys) was disappointed by the circumstances by which the Dallas Cowboys released him Tuesday, July 23, saying the team asked him to take a pay cut just a couple days before the start of training camp. 'I'm good. Just wished they did this earlier, they asked me for a pay cut Monday (July 22),' Hurns said.

Updating previous reports, free-agent WR Allen Hurns (Cowboys) was asked by the Dallas Cowboys to take a $4 million pay cut in 2019 before he declined the offer and was released Tuesday, July 23. Hurns was scheduled to make $6 million in 2019, including a $4 million base salary and $2 million in incentives, but the Cowboys wanted a restructured deal worth $2 million total with Hurns coming back from his fractured fibula/ankle suffered in the postseason.

Jul 23 1:10pm ET

The Dallas Cowboys have released wide receiver Allen Hurns, who broke his fibula in a playoff game last season. It's unclear if Hurns was going to be ready to go for the Cowboys when training camp began, but he was expected to play this season. He'll have a chance to latch on somewhere else, but it would be a stretch to expect Hurns to be a fantasy relevant player in 2019. His departure from Dallas might help Tavon Austin see the field more, but Hurns wasn't a threat to compete for snaps with Dallas' top three wideouts.

Updating a previous report, free-agent WR Allen Hurns (ankle) will test the market after declining the Dallas Cowboys' offer to stay with the team on a reduced contract, according to a source Tuesday, July 23.

Jul 23 12:43pm ET

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns (ankle) will be released Tuesday, July 23, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Hurns' debut season in Big D in 2018 produced only 20 receptions for 295 yards and two TDs, and then he suffered a nasty ankle/leg injury during the postseason. He's still on the mend but should find a new home at only age 27.

From TheHuddle

Jun 11 7:23pm ET

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns (ankle) will participate in individual drills during minicamp this week.

From TheHuddle

Jun 11 1:00pm ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal said that wide receiver Allen Hurns (ankle, leg) ran routes against air last week and is moving to individual drills at minicamp on Tuesday. Hurns suffered a devastating leg injury in the playoffs last year. He was a disappointment to say the least in his first year in Dallas over a full season, catching just 20 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns. With the addition of Randall Cobb as a free agent in the offseason behind Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, Hurns won't have much of a role in the passing game unless an injury occurs ahead of him in 2019.

From RotoBaller

Jun 5 6:23pm ET

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns (ankle) was able to run some routes during practice Tuesday, June 4, according to wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal.

From TheHuddle

May 27 7:00pm ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Allen Hurns (ankle, leg) is expected to return at some point in training camp after suffering a gruesome lower leg injury in the playoffs last season. He continues to rehab a dislocated left ankle and fractured left fibula, and the Cowboys will give him a chance to win a starting job behind Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and Randall Cobb. The 27-year-old caught just 20 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns in his first season with Dallas, though, and he won't be on many fantasy owners' radars going into drafts this fall. The Cowboys can save $5 million in salary cap space if they release Hurns, so he's not guaranteed to stick with them.

From RotoBaller

May 26 5:13pm ET

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns (ankle, leg) should return to the practice field at some point during training camp. Head coach Jason Garrett said Hurns has made good progress in his rehab.

From TheHuddle

May 25 12:10pm ET

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Allen Hurns (ankle) will not take part in organized team activities. Also sitting out are defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence (shoulder), wide receiver Tavon Austin and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch (pelvis). Hurns, 27, was a disappointment in his first year in Dallas, catching only 20 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games. With Randall Cobb now in the fold alongside Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, Hurns is even less appealing in deep fantasy leagues.

From RotoBaller

May 24 7:53pm ET

Dallas Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence (shoulder), CB Byron Jones (hip), DE Christian Covington (calf), DE Taco Charlton (ankle, shoulder) and WR Allen Hurns (ankle) will not participate in the offseason workouts because of injuries.
