New York Jets kicker Sam Ficken made a 38-yard field goal, and was 3-for-3 on extra points in a win over the Cowboys Sunday. It was a drama-free afternoon in the kicking department for the Jets with Ficken looking good on all of his kicks today. Ficken had a good day, but shouldn't be a kicker owned in fantasy. Kicking opportunities for Ficken will likely be sparse in a tough matchup against an elite Patriots Defense next Monday night.
New York Jets kicker Sam Ficken hasn't played much this season with the Jets offense struggling to get anything going. In three weeks, Ficken has only attempted two field goals, converting one, and has only had two extra-point attempts. Ficken wasn't on an NFL roster to start the season and was signed after the Jets kicking woes in Week 1. His own history, he's only made four of eight career field goal tries, combined with lack of opportunity kicking for the Jets makes Ficken among the worst options at kicker in fantasy.
New York Jets kicker Sam Ficken made two extra points and didn't attempt a field goal in a loss to the Patriots Sunday. Ficken has now made all three attempts as a Jet after signing with the team prior to Week 2. That should be enough to keep Ficken employed with the team given the Jets kicker struggles in the preseason, but fantasy owners should look elsewhere as the Jets offense will severely limit Ficken's scoring opportunities.
New York Jets kicker Sam Ficken will make his second start on Sunday after being signed prior to last week's game against the Browns. The Jets cut kicker Kaare Vedvik after struggling mightily in Week 1 and signed Ficken after trying out multiple kickers last week. In the game Monday, Ficken converted his lone field goal attempt, a 46-yarder that was the only scoring the Jets could manage. Now they'll play their first road game against a Patriots Defense that has allowed only three points through two weeks. With the Jets starting a third-string quarterback on the road against the defending champs, Ficken is unlikely to get many kicking opportunities and shouldn't be started in fantasy.
New York Jets kicker Sam Ficken made a 46-yard field goal on his only attempt of the night in a 23-3 loss to the Browns Monday. The home crowd didn't have much to cheer for but erupted when Ficken's kick sailed through the uprights after the Jets kicking disaster last week against the Bills. Ficken was signed after a tryout on Tuesday and didn't do anything tonight to lose the job, but won't have much fantasy value kicking for a Jets team that has scored only 19 points through two games and struggled mightily with backup quarterbacks Trevor Siemian and Luke Falk playing tonight.
New York Jets kicker Sam Ficken will play in his first game for his new team Monday night vs Cleveland. The Jets signed Ficken after cutting Kaare Vedvik after Vedvik missed a field goal and an extra point in a 1-point loss last Sunday. Ficken made every kick in the Jets five-person tryout earlier in the week and was signed to be the team's new kicker. Ficken has been with five teams in his career but only has six career field goal attempts. He is not a viable option in fantasy, especially given how bad the Jets offense looked in Week 1 and the injuries to the offense heading into the matchup with the Browns.
Green Bay Packers kickers Mason Crosby and Sam Ficken are locked in their kicking battle, both hitting all four of their attempts in practice. The two dueled at 22, 28, 33 and 40-yard distances. The kicking battle in Green Bay has Crosby at a slight edge, but Ficken could take this all the way to the end of the preseason. Fantasy owners should consider this in looking at taking Crosby to open the season.
Green Bay Packers kicker Sam Ficken could give the team an option at kicker, with long time veteran Mason Crosby missing time with a calf injury. Ficken struggled in the early days of practice, but seems to have become more comfortable recently ending a recent practice with a record of 11 of 14 attempts. The Packers may opt to stick with Crosby ultimately, but Ficken could be a good option for fantasy owners this season in drafts, as part of an offense that has historically been effective.
