The San Francisco 49ers placed wide receiver Trent Taylor (foot) on Injured Reserve on Friday and re-signed offensive tackle Sam Young to a one-year contract in a corresponding move. Taylor had surgery Aug. 10 to fix a Jones fracture in his right foot and must sit out at least eight weeks before he's eligible to appear in a game. Taylor can be dropped by any owners who were holding him in redraft leagues at this point. Marquise Goodwin and rookie Deebo Samuel have emerged as the top pass-catchers for San Fran after two weeks, while Dante Pettis is sinking into oblivion. Rookie Jalen Hurd remains week-to-week but could enter the mix before long.

San Francisco 49ers WR Trent Taylor (foot) likely will not be available for Week 1, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

From TheHuddle

Aug 28 12:20am ET

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that it's highly unlikely that wide receiver Trent Taylor (foot) will be ready to play in Week 1. There's a chance Taylor could miss more than just the regular season opener, so he's one to avoid in most fantasy drafts. The 25-year-old had 26 receptions for only 215 yards and a touchdown in 14 games in 2018. With both Taylor and possibly Jalen Hurd out to begin the season, it should mean more work for Jordan Matthews in the slot. Matthews has put up numbers before in the NFL, but he's nothing more than a late-round flier without much upside in deeper leagues. Rookie Deebo Samuel could also have an expanded early-season role.

From RotoBaller

Aug 21 12:40am ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Trent Taylor (foot) could be back by Week 1. The oft-hobbled third-year player underwent foot surgery on August 10 with an expected rehab of 4-6 weeks, although head coach Kyle Shanahan believes he wont miss any regular season action. Limited by injuries, Taylor has tallied just 645 yards across his first two seasons but has been effective when healthy. Hes also a first down machine, moving the chains on 38 of 69 career grabs. Assuming a swift recovery, Taylor is locked as the Niners slot receiver and is a deep PPR play. If he endures any setbacks, rookie receiver Jalen Hurd and second-year man Richie James Jr. are beneficiaries.

Aug 16 10:03pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Trent Taylor (foot) was seen at practice Friday, Aug. 16, wearing a walking boot on his right foot and using crutches.

From TheHuddle

Aug 11 1:33am ET

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers WR Trent Taylor (foot) has a chance to be ready for the regular-season opener, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Taylor sought help for his Jones fracture before it broke completely per Shanahan, likely reducing his recovery time to four to six weeks instead of eight to 10.

From TheHuddle

Aug 10 10:23pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Trent Taylor (foot) had surgery to insert a screw into his foot Friday, Aug. 9.

Fantasy Spin: Taylor had been receiving praise throughout the offseason and was in line to be the starting slot receiver. His injury could mean even more targets for rookie Deebo Samuel, who is worth a flier as a WR5 in redraft leagues.

From TheHuddle

Aug 4 9:00pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Trent Taylor is building a solid rapport with starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo reportedly found Taylor multiple times on Sundays practice and was his go-to receiver during a hurry-up drill. Taylor dealt with a back injury in 2018 and was limited to just 215 yards but should have the starting slot role locked up ahead of Richie James Jr. Currently going undrafted in fantasy leagues, Taylor could emerge as a deep PPR asset if the positive news continues.
