Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot), DE/LB Bruce Irvin (hamstring) S Rashaan Gaulden (groin), DT Kawann Short (shoulder) and OG Brandon Greene (neck) were unable to participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 19. TE Greg Olsen (back) was a full participant.

Sep 19 2:13pm ET

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 19, as he recovers from a foot injury.

Fantasy Spin: Barring a sudden turn of events over the next few days, Newton owners should not plan on having the QB available for Week 3, with Kyle Allen in line to start against the Cardinals on Sunday.

From TheHuddle

Sep 19 12:20pm ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (foot) is not at practice on Thursday for the second straight day. Newton was in a walking boot on Wednesday and isn't expected to play in Week 3 against the Cardinals. You need to make other plans now if you were planning on using him as your starter this week. Backup Kyle Allen will get the nod if Newton is inactive, but he's a low-end QB2 in deeper leagues despite having a good matchup against the Cardinals sketchy secondary. Receivers D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel need to be downgraded slightly with Newton injured.

Sep 18 3:43pm ET

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Spin: Newton is questionable for Week 3, so fantasy players should monitor the situation during the week. Players will need other options available in case Newton is ruled out.

From TheHuddle

Sep 18 12:20pm ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (foot) is not practicing on Wednesday. Newton aggravated the foot injury he suffered in the preseason and is looking questionable for Week 3 against the Cardinals. Consider him more of a QB2 this week with his status up in the air. If he's forced to sit, Kyle Allen would take snaps under center in Arizona, making all of Carolina's pass-catchers less attractive in fantasy. The Panthers would likely feed running back Christian McCaffrey even more.

From RotoBaller

Sep 18 9:43am ET

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) remains in a walking boot Wednesday, Sept. 18. If he can practice soon, he has a chance to play in Week 3.

Fantasy Spin: It doesn't appear Newton will be ready. However, he hasn't played well enough to give the confidence of starting him in fantasy either way. Kyle Allen is not worth streaming this week if Newton can't go.

From TheHuddle

Sep 17 12:20pm ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton's (foot) Week 3 status against the Cardinals is up in the air after he aggravated a foot injury that he initially suffered in the preseason. Newton is rehabbing during practice on Tuesday. Cam hasn't looked good through two weeks, and perhaps his foot is the main reason why. He's run the ball five times in two games for a total of negative-two yards. His fantasy owners were really hoping he could bounce back this Sunday in a great matchup against the Cardinals, but it's looking like he might be extremely questionable. You better make plans now in case he's inactive. Either Kyle Allen or rookie Will Grier would start if Newton can't play, and the Panthers would likely feed the ball to running back Christian McCaffrey all day.

From RotoBaller

Sep 17 11:43am ET

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) could be at risk of missing Week 3 after he aggravated his foot injury over the weekend. He's out of practice Tuesday, Sept. 17, and rehabbing.

Fantasy Spin: Newton hasn't shown enough to start in fantasy whether he plays or not. Kyle Allen would not be worth the spot start should Newton miss the game.

From TheHuddle

Sep 14 3:30pm ET

Panthers' QB Cam Newton passed for 333 yards on 25-of-51 but no touchdowns in Thursday's loss against the Buccaneers.

Sep 13 12:43pm ET

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton appears to be struggling due to a lack of football conditioning following off-season shoulder surgery and a preseason foot injury, in the opinion of one veteran NFL reporter.

Fantasy Spin: Newton has only totaled 27.9 fantasy points in two games, and most alarming is his lack of rushing production with minus-2 yards on five attempts so far. Perhaps the extended break (11 days) before Week 3 will do Newton some good, but strongly consider other fantasy QB options until Cam can show some strides in live action.

From TheHuddle

Sep 13 2:00am ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton went 24-for-50, racking up 324 yards in the loss to the Bucs on Thursday night. Though the veteran wasn't able to throw for a touchdown, his accumulation of yards through the air was enough to satisfy the fantasy managers who kept him in their lineups despite his average showings against Tampa throughout the years. With two losses in the books for the Panthers, Newton and company will hit the road for a showdown with the Cardinals in Week 3.

From RotoBaller

Sep 13 1:23am ET

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 25 of 51 passes for 333 yards during the team's Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Newton also ran twice for no yards and lost a fumble.

Fantasy Spin: There's something wrong with Newton. Whether that problem is physical or mental is unclear. The team claims the foot injury he suffered in the preseason is a non-factor and that he's recovered from offseason shoulder surgery, but anyone that watched Thursday night saw a bevy of wildly inaccurate throws and a striking lack of athleticism -- it should be a red flag that the team didn't call Newton's number on 4th and 1 with the game on the line. This is eight straight losses for Newton as a starter, and four in a row without a TD pass. At this point it's time to strongly consider moving Newton out of your starting lineup, assuming you have a competent backup, and see if he can shake off this malaise.

From TheHuddle

Sep 12 12:33pm ET

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) was bothered some by a sprained foot and missed practice time in Week 1 rather than any lingering issues in his recovery from offseason shoulder surgery, according to the team. Newton took all the snaps in practice this week heading into the Week 2 game Thursday, Sept. 12. 'I feel good about him and what he's done to get himself ready to roll,' head coach Ron Rivera said.

Fantasy Spin: Newton had a rough Week 1 with 239 passing yards, minus-2 rushing yards and two turnovers in a 30-27 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams, but he has the chance to bounce back strong against a less-than-formidable Bucs defense.

From TheHuddle

Sep 11 5:20am ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will look to rebound on Thursday night against the visiting Buccaneers. Newton was quiet against the Rams in Week 1, finishing the day by going 25-for-38 with an interception. The 30-year-old threw for 547 yards while also tossing four touchdowns and four interceptions against Tampa in 2018, with the veteran performing much more effectively at home. He is an effective option in all fantasy formats.

From RotoBaller

Sep 10 6:13pm ET

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton assured reporters Tuesday, Sept. 10, he'll be able to throw the deep ball whenever it's required. 'If it's going to hinder us from winning, I don't want to throw it. But if it's going to make us win, 'Oh, baby,' you better throw some doggone deep balls,' Newton said while impersonating offensive coordinator Norv Turner. Newton underwent arthroscopic surgery on his throwing shoulder in the offseason.

Fantasy Spin: Newton threw just one pass traveling 20-plus yards beyond the line of scrimmage in Week 1, completing 25 of 38 passes for 239 yards and one interception in the loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He remains a bonafide QB1 despite the lackluster season debut.

From TheHuddle

Sep 8 4:50pm ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton failed to lead his team past the Rams in Week 1. Despite finishing with 239 yards while completing 65 percent of his passes (25-for-38), Newton was unable to find the end zone, with the team relying on running back Christian McCaffrey to pick up the slack offensively. It was still a semi-efficient outing for the veteran, especially after dealing with a nagging shoulder issue in 2018 that led to offseason surgery. He will look to get it going in Week 2, with the Panthers getting only a few days off before meeting the Bucs on Thursday night. He remains a must-start in most cases.

From RotoBaller

Sep 5 4:23pm ET

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) has reportedly shown the ability to move around well in practice, leading head coach Ron Rivera to believe Newton will be able to do the things 'he has normally done' in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Spin: A fully healthy Newton is a dual-threat quarterback with potential to vulture touchdowns near the goal line. He's a solid start in Week 1.

From TheHuddle

Sep 5 4:00pm ET

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said that quarterback Cam Newton's (foot) mobility has been good in practice and he feels like the signal-caller will be able to do the things he normally does in Week 1 on Sunday against the Rams. Newton suffered a mid-foot sprain in the third preseason game but is past the issue and is all systems go for the regular season opener. Many fantasy owners were skeptical of Newton in drafts this year because of his second straight offseason with right shoulder surgery. But if he's right, Newton should remain a QB1 most weeks. He's a low-end QB1/high-end QB2 to start the year in a tough matchup with LA's capable defense.

From RotoBaller

Sep 4 3:30pm ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (foot) is not listed on the team's Week 1 injury report against the Rams. Head coach Ron Rivera said there's no reason to hold Newton back in the season opener. With injury concerns surrounding his foot and right shoulder, Newton's fantasy value dropped in drafts, but he still has the potential to put up QB1 numbers more often than not, especially if he continues to use his legs to pick up yards. He'll be a risk/reward low-end QB1 while going up the NFL Champions from a year ago in Week 1.

From RotoBaller

Sep 4 3:13pm ET

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 4, and is not on the injury report for Week 1.

Fantasy Spin: Newton dealt with a foot injury during the majority of the preseason but should not be limited in Week 1. He will be facing a solid Los Angeles Rams defense but can still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in most leagues.
