Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon is 'unlikely to return' to the club in 2020, in the opinion of ESPN's Eric D. Williams. Gordon is set to become an unrestricted free agent.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon's ill-fated holdout doubtless cost him some money, and it'll be interesting to see what kind of market he has in free agency. In the right spot, the Wisconsin product could still be an RB1 entering next season.

From TheHuddle

Dec 30 2:50am ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon may not have led his team to a victory in the final game of the season, but he bumped his own value a bit more as he heads into free agency. Following his holdout to start the season, Gordon took a little bit to get his legs under him. He finished strong though, reminding everyone of his value as he racked up 122 scrimmage yards in Week 17 as well as a touchdown. Gordon finishes the shortened season with nine touchdowns, 612 rushing yards, and 296 receiving yards. Gordon will now hit the open market, and it remains to be seen whether he'll be suiting up in the powder blue next year. With LA opening a new stadium and facing a possible hole at quarterback as well, the question is whether anyone will get paid, and if so, who?

Dec 28 2:10pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon will take the field on Sunday against the Chiefs, and he may be wearing the Chargers uniform for the last time. When the game ends, Gordon will officially be an unrestricted free agent, and he'll be ready to cash in on his next contract. Gordon was a little rusty from his holdout earlier this year, but he's gotten it together as the season has rolled on and had a stretch of four games where he averaged more than 4.6 YPC. Head coach Anthony Lynn's usage of Gordon has varied widely, from his nine-carry, two-touchdown performance last week to his 22-carry, 108-yard rip against the Raiders earlier this year, but Gordon has shown that he can still do a lot of damage out of the backfield. Unfortunately, owners shouldn't be terribly surprised if Gordon doesn't get too many carries this week since LA stands a good chance at falling behind early. Instead, Gordon will probably get a handful of passes to help boost his stats, and he may be able to bump in a touchdown to help finish with a respectable fantasy day.

Dec 23 2:30am ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon put up a Jerome Bettis-like line on Sunday as he carried the ball nine times for just 15 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Gordon did catch six passes out of the backfield, but those only tallied 32 yards as well. The 15 rushing yards was Gordon's worst day on the ground since he racked up just 13 against the Dolphins in Week 2 of 2017, but he also chipped in a tiny touchdown run on that day. This day should help support Gordon's arguments when contract talks resume in the offseason, and wherever he ends up, he should be a solid addition.

From RotoBaller

Dec 22 10:53pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon rushed nine times for 15 yards and two touchdowns and caught six of his seven targets for 32 yards in a 24-17 loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: His yardage totals have been down in recent weeks, but Gordon has seven rushing touchdowns in the last eight games and has logged at least a dozen touches in seven straight contests. The volume makes him a RB2 candidate.

From TheHuddle

Dec 20 7:00pm ET

Five weeks ago, Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon put up his only 100-yard rushing game of the season, and he'll look to replicate that success on Sunday. The Raiders are coming to town, and Gordon ripped them in Oakland when they last saw each other, racking up 133 scrimmage yards and one touchdown. LA lost that game, but Gordon kept them close. This time around, he'll be looking to put up one more big number before he hits free agency. With a less ideal matchup next week against the monstrous Chiefs, this game is the chance Gordon was waiting for. He should be balling out against the below-average Oakland defense once again.

From RotoBaller

Dec 16 2:00am ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon was one of the team's primary sources of turnovers on Sunday as he coughed up the ball on two separate occasions, both times deep in his own territory. Gordon is usually one of the most sure-handed backs in the league, and he's never lost two fumbles in a single game before this week. In fact, he's only fumbled twice three other times in his career, and it's only happened one other time since his rookie season. The Chargers were stomped in every facet of the game on Sunday, so Gordon's fumbles were just one of the many issues the team had. Hopefully, he'll be able to bounce back from them and light up Oakland next week.

Dec 16 1:33am ET

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon carried the ball seven times for 28 yards but lost two fumbles against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15. He also caught five passes for 36 yards.

Fantasy Spin: On the heels of some encouraging performances, Gordon was careless with the ball Sunday as part of one of the worst efforts from an NFL team in 2019 as the Chargers turned the ball over seven times. They welcome the free-falling Raiders next Sunday, so perhaps that'll get Gordon and the rest of the offense back on track.

From TheHuddle

Dec 13 6:30pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon hung 99 rushing yards on the Denver Broncos two weeks ago, and he'll need to find that same charge this week when he squares off against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are allowing the 6th-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs this year, so Gordon will have to be at the top of his game if he's going to have a solid day. Gordon has topped 90 scrimmage yards for five straight weeks, but Minnesota is easily the best defensive front he's seen since he returned to full usage. Expect it to be hard slogging for Gordon, and don't be surprised if he posts his first poor day since he took over the full workload.

From RotoBaller

Dec 9 2:40am ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon wasn't the talk of the town after Sunday's game against the Jaguars, but he was still productive for fantasy owners. Gordon only touched the ball 17 times in the team's rout of Jacksonville, but it was enough to get him a touchdown. He combined for 84 total scrimmage yards, and he averaged more than 4.6 yards per carry on the ground. It wasn't a whole lot compared to Austin Ekeler's ridiculous performance as his counterpart, but Gordon still held up his end of the bargain. Expect a tougher time next week against Minnesota, but Gordon should still be one the key players in the game.

From RotoBaller

Dec 8 10:03pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon rushed 12 times for 55 yards and a touchdown and caught five passes for 29 yards in a 45-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14.

Fantasy Spin: Austin Ekeler's production has cut into Gordon's numbers just a bit, but he continues to see a heavy workload and is no worse than a high-floor RB2 option.

From TheHuddle

Dec 7 2:30pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon has been on a roll recently, and that train shouldn't slow down on Sunday against Jacksonville. Gordon has posted 90 or more yards from scrimmage in four straight games, and he's about to face one of the worst rushing defenses in the entire league. The Jaguars have allowed the fifth-most rushing yards and second-most rushing touchdowns in the NFL, and Gordon has returned to his full form. Expect Gordon to be a linchpin in the Chargers offense this week, and he could be one of the highest-performing players across the league.

From RotoBaller

Dec 2 1:40am ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon put up another strong performance on Sunday when he carried the ball 20 times for 99 yards and caught a pair of passes for another 11 yards. Unfortunately, Gordon's performance wasn't enough to bring home a win. Gordon and Austin Ekeler both saw considerable action in this game, and both brought their signature styles to their performances. Gordon's 5.0 yards per carry made the third straight game where he's averaged 4.9 yards or more per rush. He's also hauled the ball 20 or more times in three of the last four games. Gordon is giving everything he can for his fantasy owners; hopefully, some more touchdowns will arrive soon.

From RotoBaller

Dec 2 12:53am ET

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon carried the ball 20 times for 99 yards against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Dec. 1. Gordon added a pair of receptions for 11 yards.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon has now topped 100 yards from scrimmage in three of his last four games, scoring three times during that span. While Jacksonville performed much better against the run on Sunday, they've been mostly awful in recent weeks, meaning Gordon could be in for a big day in Week 14.

From TheHuddle

Nov 29 2:50pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon has played very well over the last three games, but he's going to need to find a way to get it done against the strong Denver defense if LA has a chance of winning Sunday's game. With Philip Rivers struggling badly in the team's last two games, don't be surprised if Denver keys on Gordon to be LA's most likely path to success. Denver's run defense is less intimidating than their pass defense, but LA has also shown that they're quick to abandon the run if they start trailing in a game. If the first drive or two can be successful for the Chargers, expect Gordon to carry the team. Unfortunately, that's not a likely scenario, so it's more likely that he puts up another dud due to lack of opportunities.

From RotoBaller

Nov 19 2:10am ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon rushed the ball 14 times for 69 yards and caught three passes for 21 more yards in Monday's loss to the Chiefs. Averaging 4.9 yards per carry, it was surprising LA didn't lean more heavily on Gordon's ground game, especially with Philip Rivers throwing interception after interception. However, Gordon still topped 90 scrimmage yards, even if he didn't get to hit the end zone on any of his touches. With Rivers looking like a shell of his former self, Gordon could be in for some greater use over the team's remaining games. He remains one of the most potent parts of the Chargers offense.

From RotoBaller

Nov 16 1:20pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon will be looking for greatness on Monday night when he takes the field in Mexico City. Gordon has proven over the last two weeks that he is fully back and ready to roll, and now he gets to face the most generous run defense in the league. Kansas City has allowed more fantasy points to opposing running backs than any other team in the NFL, and LA happens to be in the middle of dealing with a quarterback who appears to have gotten very old very quickly. Expect the Chargers to lean heavily on Gordon's legs, and expect Gordon to capitalize on this wonderful opportunity. A multi-touchdown game seems like a good bet.

From RotoBaller

Nov 8 1:20am ET

Coming into Thursday night's game in Oakland, Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon had the biggest uphill battle. The Raiders secondary has been atrocious while their run defense has been acceptable, so the thought was that Gordon might be in for a test. Instead, he proved to be one of the only bright spots for the Chargers offense. Gordon racked up 108 yards on 22 carries with a touchdown, and he caught one pass for an additional 25 yards on the night. In what was easily his best performance of the season, Gordon looks like he should be a solid contributor moving forward.

From RotoBaller

Nov 8 12:33am ET

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon carried the ball 22 times for 108 yards and a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders in Week 9. Gordon also had a 25-yard reception.

Fantasy Spin: After running 20 times on Sunday, Gordon turned around and toted the rock another 22 times tonight, continuing what appears to be a newfound commitment to the running game. With his score tonight, the Wisconsin product now has five TDs in his last four games and is looking at another attractive matchup in Week 11 against the Chiefs.

From TheHuddle

Nov 7 3:30pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon finally got his feet under him on Sunday as he ran for 80 yards on 20 carries, and he looks like he's back to his old self. Last week was the team's first game since offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt was fired, and it coincided with Gordon getting more touches than in any game so far this season. Expect the offense to lean heavily on Gordon once again, and he'll be facing a below-average Raiders Defense that is particularly weak against passes out of the backfield. It wouldn't be surprising to see Gordon work his way into the end zone on a short pass.
