Player Notes
Oct 21 4:13pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) started in Week 7 in large part because he wanted 'give playing a shot,' but head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Johnson didn't feel right after a couple plays, leading to Kingsbury' decision to feature Chase Edmonds.

Fantasy Spin: Although it will not comfort Johnson's fantasy owners - especially those who benched Edmonds as a result - this makes more sense than the initial "emergency situation only" explanation given by Kingsbury on Sunday. Kingsbury did offer a hint this could happen on Friday when he said Johnson would not have played if the game was on that day. If Johnson is limited in any way this week during practice, it is likely he will share touches with Edmonds in Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints.

From TheHuddle

Oct 20 5:50pm ET

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson (ankle) left the Week 7 game after three snaps and did not return. He had just one carry for two yards before exiting. Running back Chase Edmonds came in and stole the show with 126 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Johnson may be questionable next week against the New Orleans Saints. With Edmonds' strong showing of late, the team could afford to be patient with Johnson's health. If he goes, though, he'll be a low-end RB1 in a tougher matchup.

From RotoBaller

Oct 20 4:43pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle, knee) was active in Week 7 against the New York Giants, but with sloppy and rainy weather conditions, head coach Kliff Kingsbury leaned upon RB Chase Edmonds instead of risking injury. Johnson had just one carry for two yards.

Fantasy Spin: It was a tough pill to swallow for fantasy owners who started Johnson upon learning he was active, but you'd probably be unhappy if he slipped on the slick turf and aggravated his injury, leading to a season-ending injury or something. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Get them back next week in New Orleans in Week 8.

From TheHuddle

Oct 20 12:23pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle, knee) is officially active for the team's Week 7 game.

Fantasy Spin: Johnson should receive plenty of touches this week against the New York Giants and is a must-start option in all leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 20 8:33am ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) is expected to play in Week 7's game against the New York Giants, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Johnson was listed as questionable on the injury report after participating in two of the team's three practice sessions during the week on a limited basis. He should be viewed as a starting option in all fantasy formats.

From TheHuddle

Oct 20 2:00am ET

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson (ankle) is expected to play in Week 7 against the New York Giants. New York has struggled to keep opposing running backs in check, so feel comfortable firing up Johnson in all formats on Sunday, even if we see Chase Edmonds worked into the mix a little more than usual.

From RotoBaller

Oct 18 7:53pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 18, and is listed as questionable for Week 7.

Fantasy Spin: Johnson likely will be the game-time decision, so fantasy players will need to monitor the situation over the next few days. He should be a starting option in all leagues if he plays, but players should have other options available in case he is ruled out.

From TheHuddle

Oct 18 5:03pm ET

Arizona Cardinals DL Zach Allen (neck), OL Brett Toth (illness) and RB D.J. Foster (hamstring) did not practice Friday, Oct. 18, and have been ruled out for Week 7 against the New York Giants. RB David Johnson (ankle), DL Zachariah Kerr (ankle), LB Zeke Turner (hamstring), TE Maxx Williams (ankle), LB Dennis Gardeck (ankle), WR Christian Kirk (ankle), P Andy Lee (hip) and S Charles Washington (shoulder) were limited Friday and are listed as questionable. OL Joshua Miles (illness) was added to the injury report Friday and is also listed as questionable. LB Terrell Suggs (non-injury) did not practice Friday but no longer appears on the injury report. S Chris Banjo (illness), WR Larry Fitzgerald (non-injury) and DL Corey Peters (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday and have also been removed from the injury report.

Oct 18 4:00pm ET

Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said that running back David Johnson (ankle) will be a game-time decision in Week 7 against the Giants. If the Cardinals had to play on Friday, Johnson would've been inactive. We thought there wouldn't be drama around Johnson's status this week with him getting in more practice work, but that won't be the case. Ultimately Johnson should be able to play in a mouthwatering matchup, but you'll need to check Sunday morning inactives just to be sure. DJ is a surefire RB1 if he plays. If he doesn't, backup Chase Edmonds would be a strong RB2 fill-in.

From RotoBaller

Oct 18 3:53pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) is expected to be a game-time decision for Week 7 versus the New York Giants. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Friday, Oct. 18, that Johnson would not have played if the game was Friday.

Fantasy Spin: This comes as a bit of a surprise considering Johnson was ahead of last week's pace when he was dealing with a back injury. It's unlikely the ankle improves significantly over the next 48 hours, so fantasy owners should expect him to share a few more touches than usual with backup Chase Edmonds. Johnson should still remain in fantasy lineups if he plays, but expectations obviously need to be kept in check.

From TheHuddle

Oct 17 5:23pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) was upgraded to a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 17, after sitting out Wednesday's session.

Fantasy Spin: Johnson has been battling through the issue for a few weeks, but he's yet to miss a game. He rushed 12 times for just 34 yards against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6, but he scored two total touchdowns and topped 100 total yards for the third straight week.

From TheHuddle

Oct 17 2:53pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) returned to practice Thursday, Oct. 17.

Fantasy Spin: Johnson only got in a limited practice on Friday last week with his back injury, so he's ahead of where he was despite picking up a new injury. While yards on the ground have been hard to come by, he has still been a strong RB1 this season due to his usage in the passing game (30 catches) and at the goal line. Owners should expect more of the same in a favorable matchup against the New York Giants in Week 7.

From TheHuddle

Oct 17 2:50pm ET

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson (ankle) returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday. There shouldn't be any drama this week over whether Johnson will suit up. He'll be out there in an excellent Week 7 matchup against the Giants as the Cardinals lead back once again. Consider him a surefire RB1 this Sunday. Chase Edmonds will continue to spell Johnson in the backfield and remains one of the better fantasy handcuffs out there.

From RotoBaller

Oct 16 6:53pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Fantasy Spin: Johnson was able to play last week despite the injury and should be on the field again in Week 7. He is a must-start option in all leagues when he is active.

From TheHuddle

Oct 16 5:10pm ET

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. Johnson missed most of practice last week but still managed to play in Week 6 and went off for a rushing and receiving touchdown against the Falcons. He'll have another great matchup against the Giants on the road in Week 7 and should be fired up as a strong RB1 again this week. Chase Edmonds is Johnson's handcuff and should be owned in most leagues in case Johnson has a setback.

From RotoBaller

Oct 15 4:05pm ET

Cardinals' RB David Johnson scored 28.20 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 6 win against the Falcons. Johnson ran for 34 yards and caught six passes for 68 yards with two touchdowns.

Oct 14 12:30am ET

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson (back) delivered a score through the air and on the ground in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons. He rushed 12 times for 34 yards and caught six balls for 68 yards. There was fear that he would be limited due to his back ailment, but that was clearly not the case. He'll have another solid matchup against the New York Giants next week, and DJ will be a midrange RB1 option.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 11:33pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson rushed 12 times for 34 yards and a touchdown and caught six passes for 68 yards and another touchdown in a 34-33 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6.

Fantasy Spin: Running room has been tough to come by for Johnson this year, but his steady role in the passing game and heavy workload make him a high-end RB2 with RB1 upside in PPR formats.

From TheHuddle

Oct 13 2:53pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (back) is officially active for the team's Week 6 game.

Fantasy Spin: Johnson likely will receive a lot of touches during the game despite the injury and should be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 13 9:13am ET

The Arizona Cardinals are optimistic that RB David Johnson (back) will be able to play in Week 6's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Spin: Barring any setbacks, Johnson should be good to go this afternoon. He was listed as questionable on the injury report after participating in just one of the team's three practice sessions during the week on a limited basis. Johnson should be viewed as a must-start option in all fantasy formats if he is active.
