New England Patriots tight end Matt LaCosse (knee) has been ruled out for Week 9 against the Ravens on Sunday night. Ryan Izzo (concussion) is questionable, but Benjamin Watson should continue to function as the primary pass-catching tight end. The 38-year-old has four catches (six targets) for 44 scoreless yards in his two games this year. He caught his only target for 26 yards in the Week 8 win over the Browns. There just isn't enough volume for the veteran to be considered anything more than a last-gasp TE2 in fantasy. LaCosse and Izzo didn't move the needle at all with Watson out earlier this year.
New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon (knee) and tight end Matt LaCosse (knee) were not at practice on Thursday. Gordon was injured last Thursday night and didn't return to the game. He's in serious danger of sitting out on Monday night against the Jets, and he's even more difficult to trust with the game being on Monday. With Phillip Dorsett also banged up, it could be Julian Edelman, rookie Jakobi Meyers and Gunner Olszewski in three-receiver sets for the Pats. Edelman would obviously be a must-start, while Meyers would simply be a dart throw as a flex in deeper formats. LaCosse will miss at least a few weeks. Ryan Izzo should perform as the team's primary tight end, but he should be faded in fantasy.
New England Patriots tight end Matt LaCosse (ankle) is questionable for Week 2 against the Dolphins. LaCosse sat out of Week 1 and there's not guarantee that he'll be making his season debut this Sunday. If he's out again, Ryan Izzo will serve as the team's primary tight end. However, none of New England's tight ends currently have any fantasy appeal, especially with receiver Antonio Brown expected to join the fold in Week 2 in Miami.
New England Patriots tight end Matt LaCosse (ankle) isn't expected to suit up against Pittsburgh on Sunday night. The 26-year-old was injured during preseason play against the Titans, and with a massive void left at the position, sophomore Ryan Izzo will serve as the starter against the Steelers Defense. Expect Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, and James White to benefit.
New England Patriots tight end Matt LaCosse is dealing with a sprained ankle and is questionable to play in the team's second preseason game against the Titans. LaCosse did not finish the first preseason game but the injury does not appear to be serious. LaCosse suddenly has become an intriguing name, a player who has had a good camp at a position that is very thin right now for the Patriots. If healthy, LaCosse could be in line to play plenty of snaps when the season begin with tight end Benjamin Watson suspended the first four games of 2019.
All signs are pointing to New England Patriots tight end Matt LaCosse being the team's starting tight end in Week 1. Benjamin Watson is facing a four-game suspension and the team released Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who is dealing with personal issues. LaCosse has looked smooth in practices and has good size at 6-foot-6, 255 pounds. He can give Tom Brady a viable target down the middle of the field, although he doesn't have a ton of production on his resume. LaCosse had 24 catches for 250 yards and a touchdown in 15 games with Denver last year. Keep him in mind as a deep sleeper as a TE2.
