Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been unable to live up to the hype of his Week 1 performance. Watkins has hauled in seven receptions or less for 64 yards or fewer in every week since the first game of the season. He caught five of his nine targets for 39 yards in the loss to the Titans in Week 10. Both Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce continue to outplay Watkins each and every week. Watkins is a reliable WR3 heading into the Monday night contest against the Chargers in Week 11.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins has caught at least five passes for 45 yards or more over the last two games. He's been productive with backup quarterback Matt Moore under center. Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee) will be back in action for Week 10 versus the Titans. That should not only increase Watkins' value, but the whole offense. Watkins will be a reliable WR3 option for Week 10.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins posted seven receptions for 63 yards on 10 targets in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings.
Fantasy Spin: Watkins can be a tremendous fantasy option when he is healthy, it's just hard to predict exactly when that will be. He looks like a solid WR4 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins saw a high volume of usage during the Week 9 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Watkins has been a big weapon for the team lately seeing 18 total targets over the last two games. He hauled in seven receptions for 63 yards on Sunday against Minnesota. It wasn't an outstanding game, but Watkins isn't expected to play great with Matt Moore at quarterback. His fantasy value should increase with Patrick Mahomes (knee) expected to return next week. Watkins should be a reliable WR3 for next week in Tennessee.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins returned last week against the Packers and performed well in the Week 8 loss. He caught five of his eight targets for 45 yards in that one. It wasn't a great game, but he performed well with veteran Matt Moore as his quarterback. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee) has a chance to suit up, so that will only increase the value of his receivers. Watkins is a WR3 option in Week 9, but would likely see more targets if Mahomes plays.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins caught five passes for 45 yards against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Fantasy Spin: Watkins caught nine passes for 198 yards and three TDs in Week 1. In the five games he's played since then, Watkins has 19 catches for 212 yards and no touchdowns. It's probably not time to cut Watkins outright, but I'd be tempted to keep him sidelined outside of advantageous matchups.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins had been sidelined the past three weeks, but came back with some fire in Week 8. Watkins caught five of his eight targets for 45 yards in the loss to Green Bay. It wasn't a great game for Watkins' fantasy owners, but a positive performance nonetheless. He's not going to live up to the hype from his incredible Week 1 performance versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Watkins will be someone worth looking at as a WR3 for Week 9 versus the Vikings.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) will suit up for Week 8 versus the Green Bay Packers. Watkins has missed the last three games due to hamstring issues, but will play on Sunday. However, losing quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee) is going to significantly hurt the Chiefs offense. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce might be the only players on offense that remain reliable. Watkins wasn't doing amazing before the Mahomes injury, so he shouldn't produce more with Matt Moore under center. Watkins will have WR3/flex appeal for Week 8 versus Green Bay.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 25, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.
Fantasy Spin: Watkins should be involved in the passing game this week, but his fantasy value likely will drop with Matt Moore as the starting quarterback. Fantasy players can consider benching Watkins if they have better options available.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) will play on Sunday night against the Packers in Week 8. Watkins will make his first start since Sept. 29 against the Lions. Aside from his 198-yard, three-touchdown outlier in Week 1, Watkins didn't top 64 yards in his other three games. He won't be all that attractive in his return to the Chiefs in a tough matchup with backup Matt Moore under center in place of Patrick Mahomes (knee). Tyreek Hill is the only must-start KC pass-catcher, while Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson and Byron Pringle will have uncertain snap shares.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 24.
Fantasy Spin: Watkins appears to be on track to play in Week 8 but may be playing with Matt Moore as the starting quarterback. He could be a flex option in fantasy leagues but can also be benched if fantasy players have better options.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Fantasy Spin: Watkins appears to have a solid chance to play in Week 8 as long as he does not suffer a setback. His fantasy value will take a hit if Matt Moore is the starting quarterback, but he could still be a possible flex option in some leagues.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) got in a full practice on Wednesday. Watkins hasn't played since Sept. 29 against the Lions, but it's looking like he has a good chance to return this weekend in a Sunday night showdown with the Packers. However, the 26-year-old's fantasy ceiling will be lower than usual with quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee) likely out and receiver Tyreek Hill back from his injury. Watkins will be a shaky WR4/flex if he's back against Green Bay. His return would be bad news for the likes of Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson as well.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is considered day-to-day, according to head coach Andy Reid.
The Kansas City Chiefs have declared DL Chris D. Jones, OT Andrew Wylie, CB Kendall Fuller, WR Sammy Watkins, OT Eric Fisher, OT Greg Senat and RB Darwin Thompson inactive for Week 7.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) and defensive tackle Chris Jones (groin) have both been ruled out for Thursday night against the Broncos. Watkins will miss his second straight game, although he was limited in practice on a short week, making it likely he'll return after an extended break before Week 8. Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson will be the team's top three wideouts. Hill is a surefire WR1, while Hardman and Robinson are boom/bust flex candidates in this divisional tilt on the road. Jones' absence in the trenches for KC's shaky defense is good news for Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 16, but has been ruled out for Week 7.
Fantasy Spin: Demarcus Robinson should continue to have a solid role in the passing game with Sammy Watkins sidelined. He has struggled over the last few weeks and probably could be benched in most leagues since better options should be available.
Kansas City Chiefs OT Eric Fisher (groin), CB Kendall Fuller (thumb), DT Chris Jones (groin) and OG Andrew Wylie (ankle) did not practice Tuesday, Oct. 15. WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) was limited. OT Cameron Erving (groin), LB Anthony Hitchens (groin), DT Derrick Nnadi (elbow), LB Dorian O'Daniel (hamstring), OG Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (ankle), WR Tyreek Hill (shoulder), QB Patrick Mahomes (ankle) and FB Anthony Sherman (shoulder) fully participated in practice.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) was limited during practice Monday, Oct. 14. The Chiefs did not practice Monday, so this is an estimation.
Fantasy Spin: Watkins was not able to play in Week 6 but may have a chance to play this week. He would be facing a solid Denver Broncos defense but could still be at least a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is expected to return to action in Week 7 versus the Denver Broncos.
Fantasy Spin: The Chiefs play Thursday, so those fantasy owners who might be counting on him won't have to sweat his status one way or the other. He's proven to be very difficult to count on for any length of time due to his lack of durability, and there's no reason to expect that to change now with a soft-tissue injury. Watkins should be considered a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option moving forward.
