TE Vernon Davis (concussion) was limited in practice all week and has also been ruled out. S Deshazor Everett (ankle) and S Montae Nicholson (ankle) were limited in practice Friday, Nov. 15, and are listed as questionable. CB Josh Norman (hamstring) and RB Adrian Peterson (toe) fully participated in practice Friday and no longer appear on the injury report. RB Wendell Smallwood (non-injury) was not given a practice designation for a second straight day but has also been removed from the injury report.

Washington Redskins RB Wendell Smallwood rushed for five yards on two carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 9. He also caught two passes for minus two yards.

Fantasy Spin: Smallwood has been filling in for Chris Thompson over the last few weeks but has not been very productive. He likely will return to the bench when Thompson returns and can be avoided in all leagues.

From TheHuddle

Nov 1 12:40pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Wendell Smallwood could be the starter by process of elimination on Sunday if Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson sit. This does not mean he should be seriously considered for fantasy purposes on the road against the Bills, especially if rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins gets the start in place of concussed Case Keenum. This game has disaster written all over it for an already hapless Redskins offense if they're forced to reach down their depth chart at QB and RB. You can safely ignore just about everyone on this team unless Keenum miraculously suits up.

Oct 25 2:10am ET

Washington Redskins running back Wendell Smallwood logged 20 total yards on three touches in Thursday night's loss to the Vikings. Adrian Peterson's status wasn't officially known until right before game time when he was declared active, at which point Smallwood's outlook for the Thursday contest grew bleak. Despite Chris Thompson also battling an injury in this hobbled backfield, Smallwood hasn't even inherited a viable pass-catching role. Up next for the Redskins is Buffalo, so Smallwood can be ignored in all formats regardless of Thompson's health heading into Week 9.

From RotoBaller

Oct 23 10:00am ET

Washington Redskins running back Wendell Smallwood might be the starter by default in Thursday night's game at Minnesota. Adrian Peterson is questionable with a high ankle sprain, while Chris Thompson continues to nurse a toe injury that held him out of last week's contest. Considering the short week, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Redskins err on the side of caution regarding Peterson and Thompson. They don't have much to play for, and it wouldn't be worth risking further injury to either if one or both are not at 100% health. If Smallwood does have the backfield to himself, volume doesn't outweigh the unfavorable matchup. The Vikings are giving up 3.8 yards per carry to opposing backs, and have surrendered just one rushing touchdown to the position. Smallwood will have to turn in his fantasy value in the receiving game, which is not worth banking on. He is best avoided unless you find yourself in desperate need of a PPR flex.

Oct 20 6:40pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Wendell Smallwood received five carries and caught one pass, converting his touches into 41 total yards. The weather in this Week 7 contest ruined any potential Smallwood might've had to excel against a tough 49ers Defense with Chris Thompson out due to injury. The fact that he averaged 6.83 yards per touch despite all the external factors working against him should at least keep his fantasy window slightly open as long as Thompson remains out. His next opponent, should he remain the secondary backfield option, is Minnesota on a short week. There won't be any weather to worry about on the road against the Vikings, but the defensive matchup isn't much friendlier than the one he just dealt with.

Oct 20 4:43pm ET

Washington Redskins RB Wendell Smallwood rushed for 23 yards on five carries against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. He also caught one pass for 18 yards during the game.

Fantasy Spin: Smallwood filled in for Chris Thompson on offense and had a decent outing. He likely will have a similar role in Week 8 if Thompson misses another game but probably can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 18 9:43pm ET

Washington Redskins WR Wendell Smallwood has the ability to handle RB Chris Thompson's (toe) duties on passing downs against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7, according to offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell.

Fantasy Spin: With Thompson sidelined, Smallwood could be headed for the handful of catches and 50-plus total yards typically reserved for Thompson, but he's still just a DFS lottery ticket for fantasy purposes.

From TheHuddle

Oct 18 4:10pm ET

Washington Redskins running back Wendell Smallwood should see a season-high in touches in Week 7 with Chris Thompson out. The downside is that "season-high" could be defined by as few as seven touches, and the team he'll be taking them against is a 49ers Defense that has yet to allow a running back to cross the goal line. If Smallwood inherits the full share of Thompson's passing game workload, it is worth noting that Thompson was averaging seven targets per game in the five contests the Redskins lost. The Redskins are a two-score home underdog this Sunday, bringing about the potential for similar usage for Smallwood. Either way, this is not a player or matchup you should be targeting in fantasy lineups.

Former Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood was claimed off waivers by the Washington Redskins Sunday, Sept. 1, according to a source.

From TheHuddle

Aug 31 6:50pm ET

Running back Wendell Smallwood was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. Smallwood was on the outside looking in all preseason since the Eagles beefed up their backfield. He's a decent enough player as a depth piece and should have a job this season at least as a pass catcher out of the backfield.

Aug 31 3:23pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood was waived Saturday, Aug. 31.

Fantasy Spin: Smallwood could land in a situation to be worth an RB5 flyer early in the season. Keep tabs on him.

From TheHuddle

Aug 30 9:43am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood rushed seven times for 23 yards and lost a fumble in the final preseason game Thursday, Aug. 29.

From TheHuddle

Aug 30 12:20am ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back Wendell Smallwood led the Eagles backfield in carries and yards in Thursday's final preseason game. The Eagles were shutout in an ugly 6-0 loss, but Smallwood ran the ball seven times, gaining 23 yards. He lost a fumble and lost a yard on his only reception. Smallwood seems to be on the outside looking in for the final running back spot on the Eagles roster. While it may not be in Philly, Smallwood should be a depth piece on some NFL roster this season. It'll take quite a few injuries for him to have any fantasy value.

From RotoBaller

Aug 17 1:50am ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back Wendell Smallwood could be left off the final roster before the season begins. Smallwood set a career high in touches last season, but he was average at best. With the Eagles drafting Miles Sanders and trading for Jordan Howard, Smallwood was pushed down the depth chart and will need to compete with Josh Adams and Donnel Pumphrey for the last spot in the running back room. It'll likely come down to who looks best on special teams in the remaining preseason games.

From RotoBaller

Aug 9 1:00am ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back Wendell Smallwood ran the ball four times in Thursday's preseason game, gaining 11 yards. He also added two catches for eight yards. Smallwood's four carries led the team, but Jordan Howard, Josh Adams, and Miles Sanders all got three carries each. Smallwood could be fighting for the last spot on the running back depth chart, and while the 2.8 yards per carry wasn't a great stat, the fact that he got a slightly longer look could be a good sign. His future on the roster could come down to his effectiveness on special teams.

From RotoBaller

Jul 9 10:53pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders expects plenty of competition at his position in training camp and for the ball to 'spread out a lot' between Jordan Howard, Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood and himself, according to comments he made during an interview Tuesday, July 9, on the NFL Network. 'It's definitely going to be competitive. That's what I like about rooms like this. It was like this at Penn State. It was a very talented running back room. But I'm just used to that stuff - competing and making each other better. Nobody's really going to be the star running back, I think. I think the ball's going to be spread out a lot, and that's what I kind of like, too,' Sanders said.

From TheHuddle

Jul 2 2:53am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood had a strong offseason program and assistant head coach and running backs coach Duce Staley is excited about his role in the offense. 'I'm excited about Wendell. Like we talked about earlier, we have a great room, a great group, and they're all competitive, and they know they're competing against each other, which is awesome,' Staley said. 'Wendell's picked his game up during OTAs. We all know he can catch the ball out of the backfield. He's just getting better within the offense, learning our offense even more.'

Fantasy Spin: Smallwood will be looking to carve out his piece of the pie with Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders, Corey Clement, Josh Adams and others in the mix all looking to claim their stake in the Philly backfield. Smallwood is worth a late-round pick in PPR leagues at this point, but the backfield is just too crowded to expect much more.

From TheHuddle

May 29 2:53am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RBs Wendell Smallwood, Josh Adams, Boston Scott and Donnel Pumphrey are likely competing for the team's fourth and final backfield spot, in the opinion of's Mike Kaye. The three likely locks are RBs Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders and Corey Clement.
