2020 RTSports Outlook

Murray had a solid rookie season, finishing sixth overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. He threw for about 3,700 yards, scored 24 touchdowns and ran for over 500 yards. He also completed a solid 64 percent of his passes. Murray had eight games with 20-plus fantasy points. He was a consistent producer throughout the season in the Cardinals pass-heavy offense. Murray will continue to start and be the face of the franchise for Arizona. He has a great arm, can make all the throws and use his legs as an asset offensively. He is the complete package at quarterback, playing a similar game to Russell Wilson. He did force a few throws last year and struggled a little with the deep ball.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Murray didn't produce huge numbers his rookie year but was very consistent, mainly because of his ability to run the ball. He can improve on last year in year two of this offense, especially with DeAndre Hopkins now as his top receiver. Murray can be a top-five fantasy quarterback this year. He can get around 4,500 passing yards, 500 rushing yards and 35 total scores with 10 or so interceptions.

RotoBaller's Outlook

This is no sleight to Mr. Jackson, he should still be a star in his own right going forward. Kyler Murray is just cut from a similar cloth. He too is an athlete playing quarterback and his arm talent is undoubtedly superior from a tools perspective. Murray was selected first overall last season for a reason and he displayed flashes of brilliance throughout the year. Unfortunately, the talent around him for most of the season was not on-par. Murray was dealing with a dusty David Johnson along with a receiving corps that prominently featured the likes of Trent Sherfield and Damiere Byrd. Murray will now head into his second year with coach Kliff Kingsbury and a brand-new WR1 in DeAndre Hopkins to lead a skill corps of Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk, and Kenyan Drake. Fitzgerald may be up there in age but he can still offer solid value as a volume receiver in the short and intermediate field. Murray and the offense as a whole will benefit from Hopkins' presence and the team's furthered continuity. It is very much in the realm of possibility that he finishes as the overall QB1 due to his value from running and throwing and should be reached for a round or even two earlier than his ADP in drafts.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was the most-sacked signal-caller in his rookie season in 2019, getting taken down 48 times. Last year, a lot of those sacks I feel were on me, Murray said. The young QB held onto the ball way too long early in the season, but he was sacked just twice in the final three games. Arizona's offensive line is by no means outstanding, but they will remain largely unchanged from last season, which could be good news from a continuity standpoint. Murray plans to do his part to avoid taking so many sacks in his second season in the NFL. With a new No. 1 receiver in DeAndre Hopkins in a pass-happy offense, Murray has high-end QB1 upside for fantasy owners.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray wasn't pressured often in his rookie season, but when he was, he was among the league's worst. Murray had a negative-19 completion percentage under expectation when pressured and a passer rating of just 42.3 in those scenarios. However, he only attempted 29 passes under pressure last season. The Offensive Rookie of the Year had a completion percentage of 64.4, a 20:12 TD-to-interception ratio and a passer rating of 87.4 in his rookie campaign. Murray's 62 rushes that reached 15-plus mph were the most in the NFL, according to Next Gen Stats. While Murray can certainly improve, his rare talents as a rusher and passer give him high-end QB1 upside in just his second season.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury told his team that the virtual offseason for veterans is over. However, the rookies will continue to meet. The Cardinals are among several teams that ended their virtual offseason programs for their veterans, but other teams are gearing up for another week of Zoom meetings. Even though some teams have wrapped up virtual meetings, several quarterbacks have already organized throwing sessions with their teammates on their own in order to gain chemistry with each other before everyone hopefully meets in-person for the first time this offseason for training camps in July. Quarterback Kyler Murray has yet to work with his receivers, but they are trying to set something up.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was extremely confident and comfortable working in head coach Kliff Kingsbury's Air Raid offense last year because of his familiarity with it in college. "Coming from where he was at -- Texas A&M and then Oklahoma, where they give him that freedom -- there's a comfort level that he's had with that," Kingsbury said. Murray became the second rookie QB in NFL history (Cam Newton the other) to record 3,500 passing yards and 500 rushing yards. It helped him become the 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year. The young signal-caller should see a second-year leap in the same system in 2020, especially now that he has All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins on his side. Murray is an extremely attractive QB1 with high-end upside for fantasy owners.

Arizona Cardinals quarterbacks Brett Hundley and Chris Streveler are building chemistry with wide receivers Christian Kirk, Trent Sherfield and others, but quarterback Kyler Murray remains in Dallas. Larry Fitzgerald said they are trying to work out the logistics to convene before training camp and that Murray "is anxious to get with his teammates." "Talking to him, he loves being around us," Fitzgerald said. "He wants to take this to the next level and build on what he was able to accomplish last year, NFL Rookie of the Year." The addition of All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins this year makes Arizona's offense pretty dangerous. Murray, just 22, is expected to take a big second-year leap with the kind of weapons he has in Kliff Kingsbury's aggressive offense. He'll have high-end QB1 upside as a sophomore.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray benefitted from open receivers deep down the field in his rookie season and also had a very low pressure rate (13.1 percent) on his deep attempts, but it was his own dual-threat ability to use his legs as a rusher that afforded him the chance to excel deep down the field through the air. Defenses were forced to respect his ability to run for first downs, which allowed Murray to sit back and read defenses. He often exited the pocket when connecting deep down the field. Having All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins will only make Murray more successful in what could be a breakout sophomore season. In Kliff Kingsbury's creative and explosive spread offense, Murray has high-end QB1 upside already.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury has had plenty of time to get more creative while designing new offensive plays during the COVID-19 pandemic this offseason. Kliff is one of the more mad-genius, offensive-minded guys in this league because of how he can put players in different positions to go out there and be successful and use your raw, natural ability to mirror up with the things the offense works best at, running back Kenyan Drake said. In Kingsbury's first year as head coach, the Cardinals had a 60.4 percent jump in points scored and a 91.7 percent increase in their number of scoring drives. They scored 25 or more points nine times in 2019 after doing so just once in 2018. With second-year dual-threat QB Kyler Murray at the helm and with a new No. 1 wideout in DeAndre Hopkins, the Cardinals could have one of the most explosive offenses in the league with Kingsbury calling the plays.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was recently touted by ESPN NFL analyst Marcus Spears as a breakout candidate in 2020, a sentiment that was echoed by former signal-caller Tim Hasselbeck. The sophomore finished the 2019 campaign with 3,722 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, while also earning the offensive rookie of the year award. With the addition of former Houston Texan DeAndre Hopkins, who is arguably the second-best receiver in the league, along with the return of Larry Fitzgerald, the odds are favorable for the 22-year-old to smash expectations in addition to finishing as a top-five fantasy quarterback this season.

The Arizona Cardinals drafted Houston offensive tackle Josh Jones with the 72nd overall pick in the NFL Draft. This is a huge steal for Arizona here, as some mock drafts had the Houston tackle going in the back end of the first round. At 6-foot-5 and 319 pounds, Jones is a big body, but he plays low and has a strong upper half. He is an ideal fit to slide into the right tackle spot as a rookie and bolster the value of quarterbackKyler Murray and running backKenyan Drake. Arizona's offensive line has been weak in recent seasons, so Jones should help solidify the right side in what can be an explosive offense in 2020.

The Arizona Cardinals are showing interest in trading down from the No. 8 spot in the first round on Thursday. They currently do not have a second-round selection because of the DeAndre Hopkins trade, so they would be willing to move back and acquire additional picks it sounds like. Just inside the top 10, another team could definitely be looking to jump up to possibly take one of the top offensive lineman or a quarterback if one falls past the Dolphins and Chargers at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has been campaigning for the team to hold pat and take his former teammate at No. 8, Oklahoma wide receiver Ceedee Lamb, but that's a long shot to happen.

The Arizona Cardinals agreed with left tackle D.J. Humphries on a three-year, $45 million deal on Monday, according to sources. Humphries will make $30 million over the first two years, and the deal includes $29 million guaranteed. The 26-year-old played in a full season in 2019 for the first time since going 24th overall in the first round in 2015. Humphries isn't the most talented left tackle in the league, but he'll bring stability at the position and help protect quarterback Kyler Murray's blind side moving forward.
