Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards has shown promise at times in 2019, but doesn't get enough touches to be a viable starting option. Edwards has rushed for 148 yards on 33 attempts and has failed to get in the end zone through the first four weeks. With running back Mark Ingram handling the bulk of the carries for Baltimore, Edwards' fantasy value hinges on Ingram's availability going forward.
Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards rushed for 11 yards on three carries in Sunday's win against the Cardinals. Quarterback Lamar Jackson led the team with 120 rushing yards on 16 carries and starting running back Mark Ingram led the backfield with 47 yards on 13 carries. No one from the Ravens backfield rotation got in the end zone Sunday. At this point in the season, it's hard to see Edwards have any relevance for your starting lineup as the second option in Baltimore, but he could prove to be a valuable bench-stash handcuff to Ingram in the event that Ingram goes down. Ingram exited the game briefly Sunday with an apparent back injury but returned shortly after.

There has been a lot of buzz recently around rookie running back Justice Hill who offers Baltimore a fun change-of-pace running style, but people tend to forget that Edwards had good numbers in 2018. The bulldozing back finished last year with 718 yards on 137 rush attempts and two touchdowns. The Ravens play a presumably tanking Dolphins Defense that gave up the most yards and second-most points in franchise history last season. Edwards could be a viable flex option depending on how well he can get "the hot hand".

However, he'll have a tougher time in 2019 keeping his fantasy value, as he'll have to compete for touches with Mark Ingram and rookie Justice Hill. Edwards' goal is to become more involved in the passing game, as he caught just two passes for 20 yards last year. Edwards is likely to be a short-yardage back for the most part, which will keep his fantasy ceiling low.
