Player Notes
Jan 11 10:30pm ET

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph had a tough ending to his season as he caught just two of three targets for four yards in the 27-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Rudolph's low volume was a product of the Vikings' inability to get anything going all day as the 49ers Defense held Kirk Cousins to just 172 passing yards. Rudolph had a few weeks of production driven by touchdowns during Adam Thielen's absences, but he took a big step back in catches (39) and receiving yardage (367) this season. He doesn't get enough volume to be an exciting fantasy option and his prospects don't look great next year with Irv Smith Jr. looking to take another step and the team still being dedicated to the run.

Jan 11 7:43pm ET

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins went 21-for-29 for 172 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round playoff game. RB Dalvin Cook rushed for 18 yards on nine carries and caught six passes for eight yards during the game. WR Stefon Diggs caught two passes for 57 yards and one touchdown on five targets. WR Adam Thielen caught five passes for 50 yards on seven targets. TE Irv Smith caught three passes for 39 yards on three targets, while TE Kyle Rudolph caught two passes for four yards on three targets.

Jan 9 9:50pm ET

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph caught four of seven targets for 31 yards and the game-winning touchdown in a 26-20 win over the Saints in the Wild Card round. Backup Irv Smith Jr. didn't see a target in the game. The San Francisco 49ers Defense is stellar against tight ends and will be welcoming stud linebacker Kwon Alexander back into the fold. They have only allowed four tight ends to eclipse double-digit fantasy points this season and rank second in pass DVOA overall. Rudolph has seven touchdowns on the season and remains a favorite for Kirk Cousins at the goal line, but he'll need a touchdown to do damage in this contest. He's a tournament-only play in the Divisional round for that reason as he'll likely find yardage hard to come by.

Jan 5 9:10pm ET

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph caught four of seven targets for 31 yards and a touchdown in a 26-20 overtime win over the New Orleans Saints. Rudolph's score came on a four-yard fade to walk-off as Wild Card round victors. Rudolph finished second on the team in targets and has now scored seven touchdowns overall. He'll be an interesting streaming candidate to consider next week against the San Francisco 49ers.

Jan 5 4:43pm ET

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins went 19-for-31 for 242 yards and one touchdown against the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card playoff game. RB Dalvin Cook rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries and caught three passes for 36 yards. RB Alexander Mattison rushed for 20 yards on five carries and caught one pass for 10 yards. WR Adam Thielen caught seven passes for 129 yards on nine targets. TE Kyle Rudolph caught four passes for 31 yards and one touchdown on seven targets, while WR Stefon Diggs caught two passes for 19 yards on three targets.

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph could see his snaps limited in Week 17 against the Chicago Bears. Though coach Mike Zimmer has not confirmed his exact plan for Sunday, sources have reported that the Vikings gave the majority of practice snaps to backups this week, indicating that the starters will see limited action. The Chicago Bears have been middle-of-the-pack in terms of allowing fantasy points to tight ends, but it may be wise to pivot to Irv Smith Jr. or even Tyler Conklin in daily fantasy formats as they project to see an increase in snaps in Week 17.

Dec 24 1:13am ET

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph registered only one catch for seven yards on two targets in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Spin: Rudolph is a dangerous option in the red zone, but he was nearly invisible in this one. He'll look to bounce back in Week 17 against the Chicago Bears, but it's likely too late for a majority of fantasy owners who had their championship in Week 16.

Dec 24 12:30am ET

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph caught one of two targets for seven yards in Week 16's 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings threw 31 times but the increased volume did not benefit Rudolph as he continues to profile as a touchdown-or-bust option at the position. Rudolph will again be an uninspiring TE2 in Week 17 against the Chicago Bears at home

From RotoBaller

Dec 21 1:40pm ET

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph has had a solid second half of the season as he has six touchdowns in his last eight games. However, he's really difficult to trust in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers. Target-hog Adam Thielen is now healthy and expected to play a full complement of snaps - Rudolph is averaging just under three targets per game that Thielen has been active. On the plus side, the Packers Defense has allowed the ninth-most points to tight ends this season and the Vikings should be passing more with Dalvin Cook (shoulder) and Alexander Mattison (ankle) likely sidelined. That being said, Rudolph simply doesn't project to get enough volume to be trusted as anything more than a touchdown-dependent TE2 in Week 16.

From RotoBaller

Dec 16 1:03am ET

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph had three receptions for 48 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.

Fantasy Spin: After a tremendous six-week run, Rudolph has done little the past two weeks. He has an enticing matchup in Week 16, however, against a Packers defense that has had its troubles defending the tight end all season.

From TheHuddle

Dec 15 10:00pm ET

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph caught all three of his targets for 48 yards in Week 15's 39-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Rudolph finished second in targets and receiving yardage on the team this week as he surprisingly remained relevant despite Adam Thielen's return. Rookie Irv Smith Jr. vultured a one-yard touchdown in the first quarter, but Rudolph's continued involvement in the offense is definitely encouraging. Continue to view him as a touchdown-dependent TE2 heading into Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers.

From RotoBaller

Dec 14 1:20pm ET

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph saw his four-game touchdown streak come to and end last week against the Lions, and his outlook for Week 15 isn't looking encouraging. The Chargers Defense has allowed an average of just under four catches per game to tight ends this season and safety Derwin James has made a huge difference since his return in Week 13. Rudolph ranks sixth in red-zone targets among tight ends this season, but his touchdown equity definitely takes a hit with Adam Thielen set to return to action. Owners should prepare for the potential floor game from the touchdown-dependent veteran tight end.

Dec 13 6:53pm ET

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (groin) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 13, and is not on the injury report for Week 15.

Fantasy Spin: Rudolph has been playing well over the last several weeks and has at least one touchdown in four of the last five games. He can be considered a No. 1 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Dec 12 5:23pm ET

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (groin) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 12.

Fantasy Spin: Rudolph has been more involved in the passing game during the second half of the season and has five touchdowns in the last five games. He can be a No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues this week.

Dec 12 4:03pm ET

Minnesota Vikings RB Alexander Mattison (ankle) and S Jayron Kearse (toe) did not take part in practice Thursday, Dec. 12. CB Xavier Rhodes (ankle), CB Mike Hughes (hip), WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) and WR Olabisi Johnson (quad) were limited. DT Linval Joseph (knee), RB Dalvin Cook (chest), DT Shamar Stephen (knee), TE Kyle Rudolph (groin), DT Jaleel Johnson (ankle) and CB Holton Hill (shoulder) practiced in full.

From TheHuddle

Dec 11 5:03pm ET

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (groin) practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Fantasy Spin: Rudolph's role is likely to decrease this week with WR Adam Thielen expected to return to the lineup. He's a low-end TE1.

From TheHuddle

Dec 8 8:20pm ET

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph was very quiet in Week 14 as he picked up two catches for 11 yards in a win over the Detroit Lions. Rudolph came into the contest on a four-game touchdown streak but was not featured at all in the victory. Rookie tight end Irv Smith Jr. had more snaps, catches, and yards and wideout Olabisi Johnson snagged the game's only touchdown reception. Rudolph is still best viewed as a touchdown-dependent TE2 who's touchdown equity will definitely take a hit if Adam Thielen (hamstring) returns in Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Dec 7 11:40am ET

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph has scored a touchdown in his last four games played and is now up to six for the season. He'll look to keep the scoring streak going against the Lions Defense as the nominal No. 2 "receiver" in the offense with Adam Thielen (hamstring) again out. Rudolph has clearly gained the trust of Kirk Cousins in the red zone and has seen at least five targets in five of his last six games played. Though his yardage totals will never blow anyone away, few tight ends can match his propensity for finding the end zone and he has to be kept in lineups as a low-end TE1 at this point (as long as Thielen remains out). Start him as such in Week 14's home matchup against the Detroit Lions.

From RotoBaller

Dec 3 12:00am ET

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph caught four of six targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks. Rudolph made a great one-handed snag in the end zone for his fifth touchdown in his last four games played as he has emerged as a weekly scoring threat in the absence of receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring). That being said, Rudolph should still be viewed as a scoring-dependent TE2 moving forward as his targets and scoring chances will decrease when Thielen returns.

From RotoBaller

Dec 2 11:53pm ET

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph posed four receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown on six targets in Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks, his fourth straight game with a TD (five total).

Fantasy Spin: Rudolph started off slow, but he has made up for lost time with three or more grabs in seven straight outings, and six touchdowns across the past six games. He has re-gained his status of TE1 after an ugly start. He had five grabs for 58 yards and a touchdown in the first meeting with the Detroit Lions, his team's Week 14 opponent.
