Starts, Sits, Sleepers: Week 14

Player Notes
Kirk Cousins Dec 9 11:40am ET
Kirk Cousins

The Detroit Lions defense arguably had its best performance of the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 13, but it should not be trusted in a matchup with Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson and the rest of the Minnesota Vikings potent offensive attack. Minnesota has given up the eighth-fewest fantasy points to defense/special teams units this season, so Detroit's D/ST remains off the fantasy radar.

Isaiah Hodgins Dec 9 11:40am ET
Isaiah Hodgins

New York Giants wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins is worth keeping an eye on in Week 14 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. The former sixth-round pick had his best performance of the season in Week 13 with five receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown. In the last two weeks, the Oregon State product has received 70-plus percent of the offensive snaps for the Giants due to their lack of depth at the wide receiver position. While starting Hodgins could be an extremely risky endeavor in Week 14 versus the Eagles, if he puts together another notable performance, he could be worth adding for the rest of the season in deeper leagues.

Cam Akers Dec 9 11:30am ET
Cam Akers

Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers rushed for 42 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries in the Rams' 17-16 comeback win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night. The 23-year-old struggled to break free from tackles or find running room. His longest run was for nine yards and he got stopped for no gain twice. He did score a touchdown for the second-straight game. Now that he has the backfield all to himself, his production has been more consistent, albeit consistently inefficient. Rookie RB Kyren Williams is not yet cutting into his workload. Williams only had three carries. With this workload, Akers will remain a possible flex in deep leagues.

Michael Badgley Dec 9 11:30am ET
Michael Badgley

Detroit Lions kicker Michael Badgley netted four field goals and four extra points last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he has a similar upside against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14. Detroit loves to go for it on fourth down, but this Lions-Vikings matchup has a projected point total of 52, so there is a solid chance Badgley kicks at least a few field goals. For what it's worth, Minnesota has allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to kickers at this point in the season.

Darius Slayton Dec 9 11:30am ET
Darius Slayton

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton should be considered a solid WR3/flex option entering a Week 14 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. The former fifth-round pick has emerged as the primary target in the passing game for Daniel Jones as he's recorded 58-plus receiving yards in six consecutive games. He's also garnered six-plus targets in five of his last six outings and eight-plus targets in two of his last three. Even though the Eagles have been strong against WRs this season, Slayton should see a decent number of opportunities on Sunday, especially with Saquon Barkley questionable to play in Week 14.

Chris Moore Dec 9 11:20am ET
Chris Moore

Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Moore could be worth playing in fantasy football in Week 14 against the Dallas Cowboys, especially for fantasy managers who are being hit hard by the bye week. Brandin Cooks (calf) has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against Dallas, and Nico Collins (foot) looks like he could be absent as well. That would likely make Moore the No. 1 receiving option for quarterback Davis Mills. That could mean nothing, as Houston's struggled to move the ball through the air, but there's at least a path for Moore to get a handful of targets, giving him deep league appeal.

Daniel Jones Dec 9 11:00am ET
Daniel Jones

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is a risky option in Week 14 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. The former first-round pick has logged three straight games where he's thrown for 200-plus yards and a touchdown while he's provided a solid rushing floor most weeks this season. That being said, the Eagles are allowing the fewest points per game to QBs, they have the second-most sacks, and the most takeaways in the NFL thus far. Even though Jones has taken care of the football much better this season, the matchup and the inconsistency in the passing game for the Giants make him tough to trust in Week 14.

Jameson Williams Dec 9 11:00am ET
Jameson Williams

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has real upside in his NFL career thanks to his elite deep-threat skill set, but it's too early to trust him in fantasy lineups. Williams saw just one target on eight snaps in his NFL debut, so it's tough to suggest he'll have a full workload and fantasy-friendly target share in just his second game after tearing his ACL last January. He's worth stashing for the fantasy football playoffs, but there's no real guarantee he'll be on the fantasy radar all year. It's a "wait and see" situation for the rookie out of Alabama.

From RotoBaller

Dameon Pierce Dec 9 11:00am ET
Dameon Pierce

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce shook off a few tough weeks in last week's loss to Cleveland, running for 73 yards and also adding 22 receiving yards. It was his most all-purpose yards since Week 10. Now, he gets an enticing matchup on Sunday against a Dallas Cowboys team that ranks 24th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game. With Dallas also boasting one of the NFL's best pass defenses, expect Houston to go to Pierce early and often in this one, making him an RB2 option.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Dec 9 10:50am ET
Amon-Ra St. Brown

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is the fantasy WR6 on the season, despite missing a game and being limited in two other games. Against the Minnesota Vikings, he's set up for a smash spot. The Vikings have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season, St. Brown should be viewed in the same light as studs like Stefon Diggs and Justin Jefferson in Week 14. St. Brown's floor is around eight targets and his ceiling could be close to 15 targets if this is a high-flying passing matchup like it is expected to be. St. Brown fantasy managers should continue to be confident and roll with St. Brown and his league-winning upside.

Baker Mayfield Dec 9 10:50am ET
Baker Mayfield

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 22-of-35 passes for 230 yards and a game-winning touchdown in LA's 17-16 comeback victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night. Mayfield entered the game on the second drive and hit Van Jefferson for a 21-yard gain on his first pass while leading the Rams to a field goal. His performance was impressive, considering he had only two days to learn the Rams' playbook since joining the team off the waiver wire. The 27-year-old had not practiced much with his new receivers, but he was hitting them in stride. With 12 minutes left, the Rams were down 10-16 when Mayfield led a 9-minute drive to score the team's first touchdown. The Rams got the ball back again with just 1:45 left and had to go 98 yards. Mayfield led a no-huddle drive, completing five-of-six passes, including a 23-yarder in tight coverage right on into Van Jefferson's hands for the winning touchdown. While Mayfield deserves credit for his role in this exciting comeback and could be a worthwhile pickup in superflex leagues, he has been wildly inconsistent during his career, so you can't count on him to do this every week.

From RotoBaller

D.J. Chark Dec 9 10:50am ET
D.J. Chark

Detroit Lions wide receiver D.J. Chark has real upside in a matchup with the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14. The Vikings have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game through 13 weeks, and the Lions' offense is clicking on all cylinders. Chark posted 98 yards last week as the Lions' deep threat and it's tough to expect first-round rookie Jameson Williams (knee) to take his job just yet. Chark is close to must-start territory in deep leagues, but he's a real flex consideration in the shallowest of leagues. He might not have the safest floor, but always chase the upside in fantasy football.

From RotoBaller

Ryan Tannehill Dec 9 10:40am ET
Ryan Tannehill

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill hasn't been on the QB1 radar like he was in each of the last two years, but he draws a favorable matchup for quarterbacks in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville has allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. However, if Treylon Burks (concussion) doesn't play, Tannehill's upside is dramatically limited. Robert Woods, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and Austin Hooper aren't a strong enough skill group to always take advantage of favorable matchups and Tennessee always prefers to lean on Derrick Henry and the rushing attack. That said, Tannehill has a wide range of outcomes.

From RotoBaller

Jared Goff Dec 9 10:40am ET
Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has been a QB1 in multiple weeks this season, and his ceiling is high against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14. Minnesota has allowed the most passing yards (3595) this season and have given up the eighth-most fantasy points per game to quarterback through 13 weeks. In Week 3, Goff threw for 277 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against Minnesota, but the Detroit offense is clicking more than ever before. The projected point total of 52 suggests this NFC North showdown should be a shootout, so fantasy managers should trust Goff in this spot.

From RotoBaller

Doug Pederson Dec 9 10:30am ET
Doug Pederson

The Tennessee Titans fantasy defense/special teams have scored the 13th-most fantasy points this season as it has taken advantage of the struggling offenses it has faced. Against top-tier offenses, Tennessee's defense has usually been shredded. That said, they have a boom-or-bust outlook against the hot and cold Jaguars' offense. Jacksonville has shown flashes of brilliance under Doug Pederson and Trevor Lawrence, but there are plenty of games where the offense sputtered. Even so, the Jaguars have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to defense/special teams in fantasy. Trust some of the elite defenses before inserting Tennessee's D/ST in lineups, but they do have upside with a solid pass rush. If Lawrence (toe) is inactive and C.J. Beathard draws the start, Tennessee is in the must-start territory.

From RotoBaller

Randy Bullock Dec 9 10:30am ET
Randy Bullock

Tennessee Titans kicker Randy Bullock remains off the fantasy radar, even in a matchup with a struggling Jacksonville Jaguars defense. Tennessee's offense is one of the worst in the league, so there's not much upside for the veteran kicker. He's currently outside the top 20 kickers in total fantasy points and with plenty of high-end streamers available each week, keep him on the waiver wire.

From RotoBaller

Derrick Henry Dec 9 10:20am ET
Derrick Henry

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has rushed 75 times for just 208 yards (2.7 YPC) over his last four games, scoring just one touchdown over that span. That stretch of games is far from the production he provided early in the season, so hopefully, he can get back on track against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14. The Jaguars have allowed the 11th-fewest rushing yards this season, yet have still given up the 10th-most fantasy points to running backs thanks to touchdowns and receptions. Henry averaged 172.5 rushing yards and 2.5 touchdowns in his last two games against the AFC South rival, so if he can't produce in this spot, there should be real concern about his fantasy outlook moving forward. Regardless, he remains a must-start.

From RotoBaller

Daniel Carlson Dec 9 10:00am ET
Daniel Carlson

Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson went 3-for-3 in field goal attempts and drilled his only extra-point try in Thursday's 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He connected from 52, 31, and 36 yards. The 27-year-old has now connected from 50 yards plus in three of the last four weeks. He is one of the most reliable kickers in fantasy, converting 28-of-31 field goal attempts and 26-of-27 extra-point tries over 13 games in 2022. Carlson remains a top-five option against the New England Patriots in Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Ryan Tannehill Dec 9 9:50am ET
Ryan Tannehill

The defense of the Jacksonville Jaguars likely isn't worth starting in a Week 14 matchup with the Tennessee Titans. The Titans don't have a daunting offense as they are averaging only 18.3 points per game (seventh-fewest in the NFL). But the Jaguars have allowed 27-plus points in three straight games and they've allowed 100-plus rushing yards in five of their last six games ahead of a showdown with Derrick Henry. Even though Ryan Tannehill and Tennessee's passing game has struggled, Jacksonville's defense hasn't given us any reason to trust them in a road matchup in Week 14.

From RotoBaller

Foster Moreau Dec 9 9:50am ET
Foster Moreau

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Foster Moreau failed to secure his only target in Thursday's 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. It was the second time this season Moreau didn't catch a pass. The 25-year-old caught 25 passes for 316 yards and two touchdowns over 11 games in 2022. Darren Waller (hamstring) could return to action in Week 15, limiting Moreau's fantasy upside. Moreau is mainly a deep-league option Sunday against the New England Patriots, and he could move to a borderline TE2 status depending if Waller is active.
