Chargers WR Mike Williams departs with knee injury

Sun Sep 24 3:59pm ET
Field Level Media

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams was carted off the sideline in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings with a left knee injury.

Williams caught a pass over the middle when he took a hit from Minnesota's defensive tackle Harrison Phillips and grabbed for his knee. He was helped off the field before being taken to the locker room.

The Chargers' big-play threat had seven catches before his injury for 121 yards and a touchdown. He entered with 12 receptions for 128 yards over the first two games of the season.

Williams, 28, missed four games last season with a high ankle sprain.

In addition, Chargers safety Derwin James was ruled questionable to return with a left hamstring injury.

Pick'em Plays: Week 3

Player Notes
Deshaun Watson Sep 24 4:20pm ET
Deshaun Watson

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson completed 27 of his 33 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns while adding 16 yards on the ground in a 27-3 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. Watson bounced back from a rough Week 2 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers to shred the Titans on Sunday. He found Amari Cooper and Jerome Ford for his two touchdown tosses in the easy win over Tennessee. Watson now has thrown for 678 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions through three games. Now trending upwards, Watson will next take on the Baltimore Ravens at home.

Mike Williams

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams (knee) appeared to suffer a serious injury during Week 3 versus the Minnesota Vikings. He was helped off the field and carted to the locker room with a towel over his head. The talented wideout caught seven passes for 121 yards and one touchdown before departing. Amidst fears that this could be a long-term injury, Joshua Palmer and Quentin Johnson will likely see a significant increase in volume going forward.

Jerome Ford Sep 24 4:20pm ET
Jerome Ford

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford carried the ball 10 times for 18 yards and a touchdown while adding another 33 yards and a score on two catches in a 27-3 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. Ford has now found the end zone in consecutive games as he operates as the Browns' lead back with Nick Chubb sidelined for the season. Ford scored Cleveland's first touchdown in the second quarter on a 19-yard pass from Deshaun Watson and later crossed the goal line again on a three-yard run in the third quarter. Even with Kareem Hunt in the mix, Ford is settling in as an upside RB2 in fantasy moving forward. He will face off against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4.

Gus Edwards Sep 24 3:50pm ET
Gus Edwards

Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards (head) is being evaluated for a concussion. The 28-year-old had picked up a solid 51 yards on 11 carries before exiting. With Justice Hill (toe) inactive this week, Baltimore's backfield will now be led by Melvin Gordon until Edwards is able to return.

D'Onta Foreman Sep 24 3:40pm ET
D'Onta Foreman

Chicago Bears running back D'Onta Foreman (coach's decision) is a healthy scratch for Week 3 versus the Kansas City Chiefs. This is the second consecutive week that the veteran running back has been made inactive. Chicago will proceed with a combination of Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson leading its backfield.

Derek Carr Sep 24 3:30pm ET
Derek Carr

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (shoulder) has been downgraded to out for the remainder of Week 3 versus the Green Bay Packers. He went to the locker room during the third quarter of Sunday's game and was initially listed as questionable to return. Now, his day is done. Prior to his injury, the 32-year-old had completed 13 of 18 passes for 103 yards and one touchdown. Jameis Winston will handle quarterback duties for the remainder of the contest.

From RotoBaller

Isiah Pacheco Sep 24 3:10pm ET
Isiah Pacheco

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco (hamstring) and wide receiver Kadarius Toney (toe) are both active for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. They had been listed as questionable. Pacheco looked impressive with 70 yards on just 12 carries last week, and he ranks as a fringe top-24 fantasy running back with a very favorable matchup against the Bears this week. Toney, meanwhile, hauled in all five of his targets for 35 yards last Sunday but is best left on your bench for the time being.

Jameis Winston Sep 24 3:10pm ET
Jameis Winston

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (shoulder) is questionable to return against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. He exited during the third quarter of Sunday's game and was taken to the locker room. Prior to his injury, the 32-year-old had completed 13 of 18 passes for 103 yards and one touchdown. Jameis Winston will handle quarterback duties for New Orleans until Carr is able to return.

Tre Brown Sep 24 2:50pm ET
Tre Brown

Seattle Seahawks tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) and cornerback Riq Woolen (chest) are inactive for Week 3 versus the Carolina Panthers. Both players had been listed as doubtful, so their absence comes as no surprise. Colby Parkinson should earn more snaps as the No. 2 tight end behind Noah Fant. Meanwhile, Tre Brown and Mike Jackson will acquire some of Woolen's workload.

From RotoBaller

Jamal Adams Sep 24 2:50pm ET
Jamal Adams

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams (knee) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. The 27-year-old hasn't played in a game since Week 1 last year. While there was hope that he could return Sunday versus the Carolina Panthers, that won't be the case. The Seahawks face the Giants next week and are on bye in Week 5, meaning there's a possibility Adams doesn't return until Week 6. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter previously noted that the safety has a "strong chance" to play versus New York next Monday.

DeeJay Dallas Sep 24 2:40pm ET
DeeJay Dallas

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (ribs) and running back DeeJay Dallas (illness) are officially active for Week 3 versus the Carolina Panthers. Metcalf had been listed as questionable after missing two practices leading up to Sunday's game. In the end, though, Metcalf is suiting up. He has nine catches, 122 yards, and one touchdown this season. The 25-year-old should be viewed as a solid fantasy WR2. On the other hand, Dallas is merely a depth piece for Seattle and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Kenneth Gainwell Sep 24 2:30pm ET
Kenneth Gainwell

The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to "ride the hot hand" at running back in Week 3, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Although D'Andre Swift amassed 175 scrimmage yards in a big Week 2 outing versus Minnesota, the return of Kenneth Gainwell (rib) adds an extra element to Philadelphia's backfield. It's worth noting that the Eagles are facing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that allowed just 67 total rushing yards to Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson last Sunday. Swift should be viewed as a low-end fantasy RB2 while Gainwell is a fine FLEX play.

Julius Chestnut Sep 24 2:20pm ET
Julius Chestnut

Tennessee Titans running back Julius Chestnut (hamstring) has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns. He had not logged a touch before exiting. Derrick Henry and Tyjae Spears will continue to operate as the top two running backs in Tennessee's backfield, per usual.

Tua Tagovailoa Sep 24 2:10pm ET
Tua Tagovailoa

Miami Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead (back, ankle, knee) is officially active for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos despite being listed as questionable. He'll make his season debut after missing the first two weeks of action. The return of the Pro Bowler is great news for the entire Miami offense, especially Tua Tagovailoa and Raheem Mostert.

From RotoBaller

Kenny Pickett Sep 24 2:10pm ET
Kenny Pickett

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been promoted to a "prominent role" that will allow him to work more directly with quarterback Kenny Pickett, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Canada will continue to call plays on offense. This move was presumably sparked by a slow start to the season in which Pickett has completed just 46 of 76 passes for 454 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Joey Bosa Sep 24 11:40am ET
Joey Bosa

Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa (hamstring) is officially active for Week 3 versus the Minnesota Vikings. He had been listed as questionable. Bosa also shed a questionable designation in order to play last week, and although he was held to just 19 percent of snaps, he amassed four tackles and two sacks. The 28-year-old is expected to see an uptick in snaps this Sunday as the Chargers look to slow down Kirk Cousins and company.

From RotoBaller

Salvon Ahmed Sep 24 11:40am ET
Salvon Ahmed

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed (groin) is officially inactive for Week 3 versus the Denver Broncos. This comes as no surprise after the Dolphins listed him as doubtful heading into the weekend. Rookie De'Von Achane will operate as the No. 2 option behind Raheem Mostert but isn't a viable fantasy starter.

From RotoBaller

DeAndre Hopkins Sep 24 11:40am ET
DeAndre Hopkins

Tennessee Titans wide receiver De'Andre Hopkins (ankle) is officially active for Week 3 versus the Cleveland Browns. He had been listed as questionable after missing practice on Friday. Hopkins will continue to operate as the Titans' top receiver, ranking as a strong WR3 in fantasy football.

From RotoBaller

Aaron Jones Sep 24 11:40am ET
Aaron Jones

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones (hamstring), who was listed as questionable for Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints, has been ruled out for the second straight week. Jones will now miss back-to-back games after tweaking his hamstring in the season opener in Week 1. Fantasy managers hoping to get him back this weekend will now have to wait until Week 4 on a short week next Thursday against the Detroit Lions. Consider Jones very questionable to play in that game as well. AJ Dillon will get another chance to deliver for fantasy managers this Sunday after disappointing in a lead role last weekend, but it won't be easy against a stingy Saints defense. Behind Dillon will be rookie Emanuel Wilson and Patrick Taylor.

From RotoBaller

Greg Zuerlein Sep 24 11:40am ET
Greg Zuerlein

New York Jets kicker Greg Zuerlein (groin) is officially active for Week 3 versus the New England Patriots. He had been listed as questionable, but it seemed likely that he would play after the Jets opted against adding another kicker to their roster on Saturday. Although Zuerlein is healthy, poor offensive play coupled with adverse weather conditions have rendered the veteran an unappealing option in fantasy football leagues this week.
