Starts, Sits, Sleepers: Week 14

Player Notes
Ryan Tannehill Dec 9 9:50am ET
Ryan Tannehill

The defense of the Jacksonville Jaguars likely isn't worth starting in a Week 14 matchup with the Tennessee Titans. The Titans don't have a daunting offense as they are averaging only 18.3 points per game (seventh-fewest in the NFL). But the Jaguars have allowed 27-plus points in three straight games and they've allowed 100-plus rushing yards in five of their last six games ahead of a showdown with Derrick Henry. Even though Ryan Tannehill and Tennessee's passing game has struggled, Jacksonville's defense hasn't given us any reason to trust them in a road matchup in Week 14.

Foster Moreau Dec 9 9:50am ET
Foster Moreau

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Foster Moreau failed to secure his only target in Thursday's 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. It was the second time this season Moreau didn't catch a pass. The 25-year-old caught 25 passes for 316 yards and two touchdowns over 11 games in 2022. Darren Waller (hamstring) could return to action in Week 15, limiting Moreau's fantasy upside. Moreau is mainly a deep-league option Sunday against the New England Patriots, and he could move to a borderline TE2 status depending if Waller is active.

Mack Hollins Dec 9 9:40am ET
Mack Hollins

Las Vegas wide receiver Mack Hollins caught two of four targets for 22 yards and rushed three times for 40 yards in Thursday's 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He was second in rushing yards, receptions, receiving yards, and targets in Thursday's defeat. Most of Hollins' damage came from a 17-yard run during the first quarter. The 29-year-old has 47 passes on 77 targets for 588 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 40 yards on four attempts. Hunter Renfrow (oblique) and Darren Waller (hamstring) could return in Week 15, limiting Hollins' fantasy upside in next Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

Riley Patterson Dec 9 9:40am ET
Riley Patterson

Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Riley Patterson is a viable streaming option in Week 14 versus the Tennessee Titans. The second-year kicker made both of his field-goal attempts in Week 13 against the Detroit Lions, giving him two field goals in three of his last four games. The young kicker for the Jaguars has now made 18 of his 22 field-goal attempts this season, though, he's only made one field goal of 50-plus yards. Despite his lack of 50-plus-yard field goals this season, Patterson is worth considering in Week 14 in deeper leagues with six teams having a bye week.

Davante Adams Dec 9 9:30am ET
Davante Adams

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams three of seven targets for 71 yards in Thursday's 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Per usual, Adams led the Raiders in targets, catches, and receiving yards in Thursday's defeat. The Raiders' offense was sluggish against the Rams and accumulated just 137 passing yards. It was Adams' lowest reception total since Week 8. The 29-year-old has been one of the best fantasy wide receivers in 2022, catching 82 passes for 1,247 yards and 12 touchdowns over 13 games. Despite the minor hit in production on Thursday, Adams remains a must-start against the New England Patriots in Week 15.

Christian Kirk Dec 9 9:30am ET
Christian Kirk

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk is primed for another productive outing in Week 14 versus the Tennessee Titans. The former second-round pick caught six of his eight targets for 104 yards in Week 13 against the Detroit Lions, giving him two 100-plus-yard games in the last three weeks. Whether it's Trevor Lawrence or another quarterback throwing the ball for the Jaguars on Sunday, the 26-year-old wideout should be peppered with targets this week. The Titans are also allowing the most points per game to WRs this season, making Kirk a potential WR1 in Week 14.

From RotoBaller

Evan Engram Dec 9 9:30am ET
Evan Engram

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram should be considered a viable streaming option in Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans. The former first-round pick hauled in five of his seven targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Week 13 versus the Detroit Lions, giving him just his second touchdown of the season. The veteran tight end combined for five receptions and 26 receiving yards in his previous three games before last week's performance, so it was a positive sign to see him bounce back. With six teams on a bye week in Week 14, Engram is a tight end to consider if he's available or on your bench.

From RotoBaller

Travis Etienne Dec 9 9:20am ET
Travis Etienne

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. could struggle running the ball in Week 14 versus the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have the No. 1 ranked defense in rush DVOA as they're allowing the second-fewest rushing yards per game to RBs. That being said, the second-year back for the Jaguars handled 13 of the 14 running back carries in Week 13 and his solid usage in the passing game makes him someone that should be started in all formats. While the Titans have shut down RBs on the ground, they've allowed the most receptions to RBs this season, so Etienne could be busy catching the ball in Week 14.

Cam Akers Dec 9 9:13am ET
Cam Akers

Dynasty | Cam Akers led the rushing attack for the Rams once again, compiling 42 yards on 12 carries in the team's come-from-behind victory over the Raiders in week 14. Dynasty Analysis: Akers' production was far from exceptional though he did salvage what would have been an extremely frustrating performance with a late touchdown dive following a pivotal one-yard reception on fourth down, just enough to get a first down and provide the scoring opportunity. Akers has now produced 102 yards and three touchdowns across 29 carries over his past two games, also adding two receptions. Head coach Sean McVay continues to show reluctance to use his backs as receivers even as quarterback play suffers but at least Akers seems to be the favored option in the lead role. Listed as DLF's RB31, Akers' role remains extremely tenuous and his runway for production for the remainder of 2022 and into 2023 remains uncertain. Still only 23 years-of-age, his career remains at a crossroads and will likely be greatly influenced by the team during the upcoming off-season.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Matthew Stafford Dec 9 9:13am ET
Matthew Stafford

Dynasty | Rams receiver Van Jefferson scored late on Thursday night, sealing the stunning come-from-behind victory over the Raiders in week 14. Dynasty Analysis: The score was Jefferson's second in three weeks and third of the season. Without Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson at receiver, in addition to the loss of Matthew Stafford at quarterback, it has been an all hands on deck situation in L.A. and Jefferson was the odds-on favorite to function as the WR1. But over his past three games, while he has provided two touchdowns, the third-year receiver is averaging only two receptions and two receptions and 37 yards. Without question, the team's quarterback situation isn't helping, but Van Jefferson, DLF's WR69, has done little to raise his dynasty stock in his short time as the top receiving option. He remains a deep-roster roster stash on the chance he continues to develop into 2023.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Josh Jacobs Dec 9 9:13am ET
Josh Jacobs

Dynasty | Josh Jacobs scored his 11th rushing touchdown of 2022 in the Raiders stunning loss to the Rams in week 14. Dynasty Analysis: Jacobs has now rushed for 1,402 yards and those 11 touchdowns in addition to hauling in 44 receptions for an additional 346 yards in 2022. The contract-year back was a top fade option by dynasty leaguers heading into 2022, providing for stunning value for those willing to take the plunge for the 24-year-old as his value inexplicably eroded following a relatively productive 2021 season. Now through 13 games, Jacobs has produced six 100-yard games, one of those with 229 yards and 1,748 combined yards. As long as his health holds, he's a sure bet to eclipse 2,000 combined yards. Dynasty coaches falling victim to "sell now" social media hype this past off-season will be stung by Jacobs' 2022 performance. As DLF's RB11, it stands to reason he remains a compelling value-laden trade target. He now figures to be a franchise tag candidate in 2023.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Josh Jacobs Dec 9 9:00am ET
Josh Jacobs

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (hand) rushed 27 times for 99 yards and a touchdown and caught both targets for 15 yards in Thursday's 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 24-year-old punched it from the one-yard line during the first quarter to put the Raiders on the scoreboard. He briefly exited with a hand injury but returned later in the game. The former first-round pick was one yard shy from logging his fourth consecutive 100-yard effort. Jacobs has been incredible for fantasy managers this season, rushing for 1,402 yards and 11 touchdowns over 13 games. Jacobs is a surefire RB1 against the New England Patriots in Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Derek Carr Dec 9 8:50am ET
Derek Carr

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr completed 11-of-20 passes for 137 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in Thursday's 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 31-year-old posted his second-lowest passing yard total of the year and was held under 200 passing yards for the third time in 2022. It was the second time Carr failed to throw a touchdown pass this season. He has thrown for 3,117 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions over 13 games in 2022. Carr and the Raiders' offense will look to bounce back against the New England Patriots in Week 15.

Baker Mayfield Dec 9 1:13am ET
Baker Mayfield

Dynasty | New Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield went 22-of-35 for 230 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Rams surprise comeback win against the Raiders. Dynasty Analysis: Mayfield asked for his release from the Panthers and was picked up by the Rams less than 48 hours ago. In a crazy turn of events, the Rams started John Wolford, who was quickly deemed as not healthy enough to continue after one series. Mayfield proceeded to dink and dunk his way through the game until the final moments when he led the Rams on a 98-yard touchdown drive with under two minutes to go to seal the game. It was an unbelievable turn of events for Mayfield, though he remains far off the radar in non-superflex leagues at the moment. On the plus side, it looks like he'll start for the Rams next week if you're desperate for short-term help at the position.

Zach Ertz Dec 9 12:30am ET
Zach Ertz

Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz (knee) revealed on Thursday that he underwent surgery in late November on his ACL and MCL, but he hopes to be ready for Week 1 of the 2023 regular season despite being in the early stages of his rehab. The 32-year-old is not going to be ready for the team's offseason program next spring, and it's not a lock that he'll be ready to roll when training camp kicks off next summer, either. When healthy, Ertz has been a solid TE1 for fantasy managers in his time in Arizona, but this complicated knee injury will make him much more risky at the thinnest position in fantasy in next year's fall drafts. Rookie second-rounder Trey McBride has only five catches on seven targets for 15 yards in two games played without Ertz.

From RotoBaller

Kadarius Toney Dec 9 12:20am ET
Kadarius Toney

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney (hamstring) was listed as a limited practice participant for the second straight day on Thursday. Toney has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury that has plagued him since early in the year when he was with the New York Giants. The 23-year-old is making progress, though, and has a chance to return this Sunday to face the Denver Broncos. He'll have plenty of competition for targets in the passing game if he returns this weekend, although Toney did have four catches on five targets for 57 yards and a touchdown on just 44 percent of the offensive snaps in his last full game played in Week 10. Toney's upside in KC makes him worth stashing in deeper leagues, but he'll be a very risky boom/bust WR4/flex option if he returns to action against Denver.

From RotoBaller

Treylon Burks Dec 9 12:10am ET
Treylon Burks

Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Treylon Burks (concussion), who suffered a concussion in the Week 13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, missed a second straight practice on Thursday. The 22-year-old remains in the league's concussion protocol and will have to put in some activity in practice to avoid being ruled out on the final injury report on Friday. Burks has the most pure upside over Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, but injuries and a low-volume role have kept his ceiling and floor low in his rookie season. If Burks isn't cleared to play this weekend, Woods, Westbrook-Ikhine and rookie tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo will have bigger roles in the passing game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14.

From RotoBaller

David Njoku Dec 9 12:00am ET
David Njoku

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper (hip) and tight end David Njoku (knee) were both limited in practice on Thursday. Cooper was given a veteran rest day on Wednesday but is now dealing with a hip injury that we'll have to monitor before Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 28-year-old caught four of his nine targets for 40 yards in quarterback Deshaun Watson's season debut last Sunday. Watson is likely to continue to shake off the rust, making Cooper a volatile WR2 for fantasy managers if he plays this weekend. Njoku missed last week's game but has put in two limited practices this week and is expected to return against the Bengals. Fantasy managers might not want to expect much from the 26-year-old in his first game with Watson throwing him the pigskin.

Deebo Samuel Dec 8 11:50pm ET
Deebo Samuel

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (knee) and wide receiver Deebo Samuel (quadriceps) were both limited in practice again on Thursday while going through individual drills. CMC and Samuel are on track to play in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they could be questionable on Friday's final injury report. McCaffrey played 81 percent of the snaps in last week's win over Miami and is a no-doubt, must-start RB1 for fantasy managers, even in a tough matchup with a stingy Bucs run defense. Samuel had 63 scrimmage yards in Week 13, but his fantasy stock will take a hit the rest of the way with rookie seventh-round quarterback Brock Purdy taking over the offense.

From RotoBaller

Tyreek Hill Dec 8 11:40pm ET
Tyreek Hill

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (illness) missed practice on Thursday with an illness. As long as Hill is able to do something on Friday, he should play in a Week 14 Sunday night showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers. When active, the Cheetah is an elite must-start WR1 for fantasy managers. In half-point PPR scoring, Hill is the WR3 heading into Week 14 with 96 catches for 1,379 yards and five touchdowns in his first year in Miami. The Chargers defense has been much better against the pass than against the run this year, but Hill should be locked into all starting fantasy lineups if he's feeling well enough to play on Sunday night.
