Draft Masters Fantasy Baseball ("the Contest") is a draft-only best ball format fantasy baseball game where you can start your own public league or join an existing public league. Leagues feature rotisserie style scoring or total points scoring with all teams competing for the league championship. Leagues are open to all players of all skill levels. You may choose the league that fits you best. The rules for this Contest are explained below.
RealTime Fantasy Sports, Inc. ("RTFS") will serve as the commissioner for fantasy baseball leagues and will be responsible for resolving any disputes that arise, such as rules violations or any other matters that may come up in connection with the Contest. All commissioner decisions by RealTime Fantasy Sports, Inc. are final.

You may sign up and play the Contest up until the registration deadline at any of these listed entry levels: $20, $50, $100 per team. As part of the Official Rules, all dollar amounts are in US Dollars (USD). You may register and play as many teams as you like. You may not have more than one team in any league. If you do register more than one team, each team must be in a different league. To be prize eligible you may not own more than one team per league per household.
Deadline
For leagues drafting before first pitch on Opening Day, the season will begin with the regular season games on Opening Day. For leagues drafting after first pitch on Opening Day, the league will begin play with the Monday games immediately following the draft.
Refund Policy
After you sign up for the Contest, you may request a full refund of the purchase price up until your league is filled and if applicable, the draft order is set. After the league is filled, you may not receive a refund and all sales are final. Honoring refund requests will be subject to the sole discretion of RealTime Fantasy Sports, Inc.
Once you join a fantasy league you will have the option to switch to another league up until the league is filled and if applicable, the draft order is set or up until 30 minutes prior to the scheduled draft time. After the league has filled or if it is less than 30 minutes before the scheduled draft time you will not be allowed to switch to another league.
RealTime Fantasy Sports fantasy contests are open to:
Should state or province law change during the registration period for the Contest, RealTime Fantasy Sports may suspend new contest registrations from that state or province beginning after the effective or enforcement date of the law. The RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to other remedies and actions as required by law.
Prohibited Participants
Deposits by Minors
Persuant to state law, deposits made by a minor will be refunded within no more than two business days of discovery of such deposits.
After the last team has joined the league, the league will be locked in and the draft order will be randomly generated. The draft order is a random order of all teams that have joined the league and is not affected by when teams join the league. Once the draft order is set, all teams will be notified via email the league is locked in and the draft order has been generated. If your league does not have all the required teams, the league will be disbanded prior to the scheduled draft date and time. If your league is disbanded you will be able to join another league or create a new league. RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to move the scheduled draft time up to 90 minutes to give the league sufficient time to fill with the required number of teams.
The draft will be an S-style draft with the team picking last in the first round picking first in the second round and so on. For example, in a 12 team league:
In normal drafts, each team will have 60 seconds per pick to draft a player.
If the league is designated to have a slow draft, each team will have between 2 and 8 hours to draft a player. In a slow draft the draft will pause from ~2:00am ET until 8:00am ET. Note: the clock may not pause at exactly 2:00am, it can take a couple minutes to get all leagues paused. Notifications via email, text, or the official RTFS app will be sent to team owners when they are on the clock. Team owners may select to receive notifications after each completed draft pick. RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to reduce the draft time for each team in the final week before the start of the first game of the season.
After you join or create a league, you will have the opportunity to establish your own auto draft list of players.
Prior to your draft, you may customize your auto draft list to rank the players by your preferences. You may customize your draft auto draft list at any time up to and even during your draft. If you do not customize your auto draft list, the auto draft list for the draft will be the player rankings from RealTime Fantasy Sports, as they are listed at the time of your draft.
The auto draft list will be used as a fail-safe backup in case your draft clock expires before you make a pick. In the event you should fail to make a pick in the time allowed, RealTime Fantasy Sports will automatically draft a player for you. The player will be the top ranked player on your auto draft list. Players drafted automatically will be selected from your auto draft list, or from the players in the RTFS rankings without an injury designation if you do not have a list, in a manner that will fill out your team's starting lineup before the end of the draft. In order to prevent auto drafted teams from having too many players at any one position, positional maximums are configured and can be adjusted by each team. Should the draft clock expire on a team in two consecutive rounds in a draft or one round in an 8-hour slow draft, the system will set the team to auto-draft until disabled by a team owner. Auto draft selections will stand and will not be reversed.
RTFS reserves the right to pause a draft to contact players who have failed to enter the draft on time. RTFS reserves the right to correct draft mistakes within a reasonable timeframe.
Leagues designated "Auction" will use a live bidding auction style draft to establish initial team rosters. Each team will have an auction budget of $260.
After the last team has joined the league, the league will be locked in and the auction nomination order will be randomly generated. At this time all teams will be notified via email the league is locked and the auction nomination order has been randomly generated. If your league does not have the required teams, the league will be disbanded prior to the scheduled auction date and time. If your league is disbanded you will be able to join another league or create a new league. RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to move the scheduled auction time up to 90 minutes to give the league sufficient time to fill with the required teams.
During the auction, each team will have 30 seconds to nominate the next player for bidding. Teams will nomination players one at a time in nomination order. Once a player has been nominated all team owners will have 20 seconds to submit bids for the nominated player. All bids will be shown to all teams. Team owners may submit unlimited bids on any player as long as each bid is at least $1 more than the current highest bid. If a new highest bid is received in the last 12 seconds of the player auction, the auction clock for the player will be reset to 12 seconds to allow all teams a chance to submit a higher bid. Once the auction clock for the player expires, the player will be awarded to the team with the highest bid.
Bids will be honored if received by system computers before the expiration of the auction countdown clock. It takes time for a team owner's computer to transmit bids from their location to the system computers, if a bid is submitted at the last second, it may not be received before the auction countdown clock expires. Bids received after the auction clock expires will not be honored.
During the auction, if the system detects a team owner is not present, the system will automatically submit bids in an attempt to build a roster for the absent team owner.
Team owners may familiarize themselves with the auction room via RealTime Fantasy Sports' free mock drafting. Team owners are encouraged to mock auction before their league auction.
Player Pools
Contest leagues will have one of three different player pools, NL-Only, AL-Only, or Mixed (meaning players from both leagues). When a league is created, the creator will declare the player pool for that league. Once a league is created, the player pool for that league cannot be changed. When leagues are advertised, the player pool of each league will be advertised with the league. Team owners are free to join a league with any player pool they wish.
Position Eligibility
Prior to the draft, all players eligible to be drafted will be published in the official player eligibility list. The list will identify each players' qualifying positions as of the start of the season. The position eligibility on that list will be based on the following criteria and is considered final:
Roster Composition
The Contest uses a single starting lineup for each team per week. Team owners do not select a starting lineup for their teams.
In rotisserie style, each player on the roster is counted toward their fantasy rotisserie scoring.
In points style, the system will automatically select each team's best possible starting lineup based on the highest possible weekly score from all players on the team's roster. The lineup may change throughout the week as players accumulate statisitics.
Each team's roster will consist of:
Draft Masters Fantasy Baseball does not use free agent players.
Each team's roster is composed entirely of players selected in the league's draft. Once the draft has been completed team rosters will not change for the duration of the Contest. Players on a team's roster cannot be replaced for any reason including injury, position change, or release.
Leagues are non-trading leagues.
Point Style Rules
During each Monday to Sunday week, each team earns points based on statistics accumulated by its players that week. Points are awarded to each team according to the point values in each of the hitting and pitching statistical categories. A team's total score for each week of the season is a combination of points a team has been awarded in each statistical category.
Players statistics shall be statistics accumulated at the major league level. For players in NL-only or AL-only leagues, if a player is traded or otherwise acquired by a team in the other league, you will continue to accumulate statistics for that player so long as they remain on the team's roster. If that player is dropped from a team roster, that player will no longer be available in that league. For example, if it is an NL-only league and Bryce Harper is on a team roster when traded from Philadelphia to Boston mid-season, the team would continue to accumulate statistics for Harper so long as the team does not drop Harper, even though he is playing in the AL.
The statistical categories and point values are listed below:
Batting Category | Point Value | Pitching Category | Point Value |
---|---|---|---|
Single | 1 point | Win | 7 points |
Double | 2 points | Save | 7 points |
Triple | 3 points | Quality Start | 3 points |
Home Run | 4 points | Strikeout | .5 points |
RBI | 1 point | Base on Balls | -1 point |
Run | 1 point | Inning Pitched | 3 points |
Base on Balls | 1 point | Hits Allowed | -1 point |
Stolen Base | 2 points | Earned Runs | -1 point |
Strikeout | -.5 point | Hits Batsman | -1 point |
Caught Stealing | -1 point | Loss | -5 points |
Hit by Pitch | 1 point |
In all hitting categories the hitting statistics of your pitchers do not count toward your team totals. Hitting statistics of pitchers are ignored in all leagues. Additionally, all pitching statistics for hitters are ignored in all leagues.
Statistics for games that are rained out or otherwise postponed for any reason, including but not limited to work stoppage, facilities, natural disaster, disease, or terrorism, will be applied to the week in which the game is played. The statistics for postponed games will not be applied to the week the game was originally scheduled. If a postponed game is not made up or cancelled, no statistics for that game will be accumulated. RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to adjust the fantasy baseball season to match any changes in the length or schedule of the Major League Baseball season such as a late start, mid-season pause or shortened season.
Scoring System
Points are awarded to each team according to the team's order of finish in each of 5 hitting and 5 pitching statistical categories (5x5 Rotisserie). Your team's total score for the season is a combination of points your team has been awarded in each statistical category.
For 10-team leagues, the top team in a statistical category will receive 10 points, the second place team will receive 9 points, down the line with the last place team in a statistical category receiving 1 point. Not all leagues are 10-team leagues; but the top team in a statistical category will receive the same number of points as the number of teams in the league, and down the line to last place receiving 1 point. If two or more teams tie for a position in any statistical category each team will receive the average number of points for tied positions. For instance, if two teams in a 10-team league tie for second and third place in a statistical category each of the tied teams will receive (9 + 8) / 2 = 8.5 points for that category.
Players statistics shall be statistics accumulated at the major league level. For players in NL-only or AL-only leagues, if a player is traded or otherwise acquired by a team in the other league, you will continue to accumulate statistics for that player so long as they remain on your roster for that season. If that player is dropped from your roster that player will no longer be available in that league. For example, if you are in an AL-only league and Mike Trout is on your roster when traded from the Angels to the Cardinals mid-season, you would continue to accumulate statistics for Trout this season as long as you do not drop him, even though he is in the NL. The statistical categories are listed below:
Hitting:
Pitching:
The statistical categories are defined as:
Team Batting Average (BA) - Computed using the combined at-bats and hits of all hitters in the starting lineup of your team. This not an average of the BAs of the players on your team. Batting average is calculated as hits divided by at-bats. Reaching base by error or fielder's choice is not considered a hit. Reaching base by a sacrifice, walk or hit by pitch is not counted as a hit or an at-bat. If a player hits safely but is out trying to get an extra base on the same play, it is still considered a hit.
Runs Batted In (RBI) - Cumulative total of runs batted in for all hitters in the starting lineup of your team. A player is credited with an RBI when the outcome of his at-bat results in a run being scored, except in certain situations such as when an error is made on the play or a forced double play is turned.
Home Runs (HR) - Cumulative total of home runs hit by all hitters in the starting lineup of your team.
Stolen Bases (SB) - Cumulative total of bases stolen by all hitters in the starting lineup of your team.
Runs Scored (R) - Cumulative total of all runs scored hit by all hitters in the starting lineup of your team.
Team Earned Run Average (ERA) - Computed using the combined innings pitched and earned runs allowed by all pitchers in the starting lineup of your team. This is not an average of the ERAs of the pitchers on your team. It is determined by dividing the number of earned runs allowed by the number of innings pitched and multiplying by nine. Runs resulting from batters who reach base on an error (even a pitcher error) and later score are called unearned runs, and do not count toward ERA.
Wins (W) - Cumulative total of wins by all pitchers in the starting lineup of your team. In each game, one pitcher on the winning team is awarded a win as the pitcher of record. Only one pitcher for each game receives a win. Wins are awarded by the official scorer of the game in accordance with MLB rules.
Saves (S) - Cumulative total of saves by all pitchers in the starting lineup of your team. A save is credited to a pitcher who finishes a game for the winning team under certain prescribed circumstances. Only one pitcher for each game receives a save. Saves are awarded by the official scorer of the game in accordance with MLB rules.
Strikeouts (K) - Cumulative total of strikeouts by all pitchers in the starting lineup of your team.
Team WHIP (WHIP) - Computed using the combined innings pitched, hits allowed, and walks by all pitchers in the starting lineup of your team. This is not an average of the WHIPs of the pitchers on your team. WHIP is calculated by adding the number of walks and hits allowed and dividing this sum by the number of innings pitched.
In NL-Only and AL-Only leagues, each fantasy team's pitching staff must accumulate a minimum of 600 innings pitched for the season. In all other rotisserie leagues, the minimum is 900 innings pitched. Any team with less than the required minimum innings pitched shall automatically be placed last in the Team ERA and Team WHIP scoring categories and the other teams will move up in those categories. Should two or more teams have less than the required minimum innings pitched the team with the fewest innings pitched shall be placed last in Team ERA and Team WHIP categories, with the team pitching the next fewest innings being placed in second to last, and so on with each team receiving the points designated for that scoring position.
If a league begins play after the first week of the MLB season, the required minimum innings pitched will be pro-rated.
Fantasy team standings shall be based on total points scored of each fantasy team. The team with the most points accumulated from the 5 hitting and 5 pitching categories shall be in first place in the league. The team scoring the fewest points will be in last place in the league.
At the conclusion of the season the team scoring the most points for the season shall be declared the league champion. The team scoring the second most points for the season shall be declared 2nd place in the league, and so on for however many places get paid out in the game. Should two or more teams be tied for the top position with the same number of points for the fantasy season, the team with highest Team Batting Average for the season shall be declared the league champion. The team having the second highest Team Batting Average shall then be declared the second place team in the league. Should two more teams tie for 2nd place in a league, the team with the highest Team Batting Average for the season shall be declared the 2nd place team in the league, and so on for however many places get paid out in the game.
Scores and statistics are updated immediately as they are received from our statistics provider. Some events beyond RTFS' control can make this time longer. RealTime Fantasy Sports is not responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of the statistics.
Because the statistics are updated "live", some errors may occur. If so, statistical errors are usually corrected by our stats provider during the course of the day, but may take up to 24 hours to be corrected. If an error occurs and is not corrected by our provider, RTFS will correct the stat ourselves, but only if it is overwhelmingly obvious that the stat is in error. If there is any doubt about the validity of the stat, RTFS will maintain the statistic given by its provider.
All statistics for a game are deemed final at midnight ET seven (7) days following the day of completion of the game. The additional statistics from suspended games will be applied after game completion. RTFS still reserves the right to change any statistic for any player at any time for any unforeseen reason.
In all leagues, no statistics from any exhibition game (such as the MLB All-Star game) or one-game end of the season tie breaker games shall be used. In non-playoff leagues, no statistics from any playoff game shall be used.
RealTime Fantasy Sports is not responsible for any inaccuracies, representations, statements, graphics or content of materials that are uploaded onto its servers and website from other vendors, including but not limited to the Major League Baseball, SportRadar, and users, members, subscribers, customers or participants.
Fantasy Season
For leagues drafting before first pitch of Opening Day, the season will begin with the regular season games on Opening Day. For leagues drafting after first pitch of Opening Day, the league will begin play with the Monday games immediately following the draft. The season ends for all leagues after the conclusion of the last scheduled regular season game of the MLB season. Tie-breaker games after the end of the scheduled regular season will not be used in the Contest.
Statistics from the South Korea Series games March 20th and 21st between the Dodgers and Padres will count as Week 1 stats in all leagues that begin in MLB Week 1. Please draft with this knowledge.
The MLB All-Star game and any playoff games are not included in The Contest. The partial week before the season starts, and the partial week after the MLB All-Star break will each be full fantasy weeks.
If any MLB team should play sixty (60) or more regular season games, the season shall be considered a viable fantasy season. Should the MLB season end early for any circumstance, including but not limited to work stoppage, facilities, natural disaster, disease, or terrorism, the contest will end when Major League Baseball cancels the remainder of of the season. At that time winners will be declared and prizes awarded in accordance with the league standings. The minimum innings requirement will be prorated or waived if the season is shortened.
The fantasy baseball season will mirror the MLB season as closely as possible. The fantasy season will be adjusted to match any later than normal start or a fantasy season shorter than 162 games.
League Champion
In total points leagues, the first place finisher ("Winner") in each league is the team that scores the most total points during the fantasy season. The second place finisher ("2nd Place") in each league is the team that scores the second most total points during the fantasy season. For leagues that pay out third place, the third place finisher ("3rd Place") in each league is the team that scores the third most total points during the fantasy season. The declared winners will be finalized when the last week's stats have been declared final, typically the Thursday following the season.
In the event that teams are tied with the same number of points scored during the entire season, the prize money for tied teams will be combined and distributed evenly amongst the tied teams. For instance, if two teams tie for 1st place, the prize money for 1st and 2ne place will be combined and split evenly between the tied teams.

Submission of an appeal does not guarantee a ruling in favor of the team submitting the appeal. If the team owner is a repeat offender, deemed to be using the appeal to gain an advantage or the appeal is not submitted immediately, the appeal will be denied. RTFS reserves the right to deny any appeal.
Trades
In leagues that permit trading, owners may request a review of commissioner-approved trades or commissioner-rejected trades. Trade appeals must be submitted immediately after the trade was approved or rejected. If any delay in submission occurs, for any reason, the appeal will be denied. Upon submission of an appeal, the trade will be reviewed by a panel of fantasy experts. Current injuries, bye weeks, season to date performance, team standings, and other factors will be considered. Trades that are overwhelmingly one-sided will be rejected. Trades that are arguably beneficial to both sides or arguably not overwhelmingly one-sided will be allowed to stand.
