The Baltimore Orioles selected the contract of outfielder Dylan Beavers, their No. 3 prospect as ranked by MLB Pipeline, on Saturday.
He is expected to make his major league debut Saturday night when the Orioles meet the Astros in Houston.
Baltimore selected the 6-foot-5 Beavers with the No. 33 overall pick of the 2022 MLB Draft. The left-handed batter has appeared in 94 games this season at Triple-A Norfolk and has a slash line of .304/.420/.515/.935. He has 104 hits, 78 runs, 18 homers, 51 RBIs and 23 steals.
Overall, he has appeared in 361 games over four minor league seasons, with a career average of .278, 44 homers, 180 RBIs and 87 stolen bases.
Beavers, who turned 24 on Monday, played three collegiate seasons at Cal. He can play all three outfield positions.
In a corresponding move, the Orioles designated outfielder Greg Allen for assignment.
The Orioles signed Allen, 32, last week after the Chicago Cubs released him. He was hitless in 14 at-bats.
